September study, the National Center for State Courts found there should be about twice as many mental-health records in the national database as there currently are, based on responses from 42 of 56 states and territories.

A mentally ill person who has been banned from buying a weapon can circumvent the system by using an unlicensed dealer at a gun show, in his neighborhood or through classified ads, because no background check is required for such transactions.

This was/is still true..., a backround check can't be done over the weekend. i have not stayed on top of this point, because once i learned about "no checks on weekends".. i gave up the worry.

To me, the sluffing-off of regulations for the Mentally ill, makes it easier for the Media/Politically correct to take away "gun rights".

If this is in reference to the guy in AZ, your off base.

The dude had no interaction with any kind of mental health professional. Even in the instances where there was police involvement, they didn't make any evaluation as to his mental state. And, even though various individuals thought there was something wrong with the dude, no one followed up with any kind of contact with a mental health agency that might have resulted in the guy getting treatment and possibly getting into the system before he bought his Glok.

He purchase his weapon at a brick and mortor store (meaing it was a licensed gun dealer) and passed an instant check.

Just like the police can not be everywhere all of the time to protect each and every citizen, not all people in need of help are going to be identified and put into some kind of data base.

And, yes, the so called mentally ill can buy weapons. Just because a person has been diagnosed with some kind of need for assistance does not mean they are violent or even prone to violence. And conversely, those that commit violent acts are not necessarily mentally ill.

You see, congress will try to take down "the right to firearms", but they (congress) are short on the controls that they gave us allready. ref. Article.

Not only that but, congress will NOW try to pass a limit on free speech.

See if you can put that together?

I just saw the following;

Mr. Longhner has been forcibly removed from a college campus by police officers, has threatened public officials, talk radio hosts and bloggers, but complainants were assured by Mr. Dupnik’s office Longhner was under control. There is no record of a 72 hour mental evaluation per law. Could it be that his mother, Amy Loughner, a Natural Resource environmental specialist for the Pima County Parks and Recreation, have anything to do with it?


Dupnik is the local sheriff and i guess he wants a connection with the right/radio guys, maybe to cover his lost control.

Let's see what happens here;)
