Canada vanquishing dos Yankees in the World Junior Hockey Championships in Buffalo. Should have been the Gold Medal game, but the Canadians lost in the Prelim round in OT to the Swedes.

However, they get the former Commies Wednesday night ! ;) Just as good.

Canadian fans have been dominant, crossing the border by the thousands for every game and very loud.

The International Championships bring out the blood of the Canadians. They see it!

No smack at all. Just blood running through our veins.

From Wiki:

"
First held in 1977 (1974–1976 were not official tournaments)[1] (#cite_note-0) as a relatively obscure tournament, the WJHC has grown in prestige, particularly in Canada (/wiki/Canada), where the tournament ranks as one of the most important events on the sports calendar.

Canada typically hosted the tournament every three to four years, consistently selling out Team Canada (/wiki/Canada_national_junior_hockey_team) games, offering large profit guarantees to Hockey Canada (/wiki/Hockey_Canada).[2] (#cite_note-1) Canada is now expected to host the tournament every second year due to the significantly greater following the tournament has in Canada compared to other participating countries. Originally, Switzerland was selected to host the WJHC in 2010, but withdrew.[3] (#cite_note-2) Buffalo, New York (/wiki/Buffalo,_New_York), USA will host the tournament in 2011.[4] (#cite_note-3)

The tournament has been dominated by the teams from Russia (/wiki/Russia)/Soviet Union (/wiki/Soviet_Union)/CIS (/wiki/CIS) and Canada (/wiki/Canada_national_junior_hockey_team), together accounting for 27 of the 33 overall gold medals awarded. The USSR won the first four official tournaments, while the Canadians put together five straight championships between 1993 and 1997 (/wiki/1997_World_Junior_Ice_Hockey_Championships), and another five straight from 2005 (/wiki/2005_World_Junior_Ice_Hockey_Championships) to 2009 (/wiki/2009_World_Junior_Ice_Hockey_Championships). Canada leads the all-time gold medal count with 15, while USSR/Russia lead the all-time overall medal count with 28. Head-to-head matches between these two countries are always much anticipated."

The WGR (Buffalo) guys who are themselves big Hockey fans thought that the WJHC might be followed as the WORLD'S # 3/4 Sports event.

After...

1) World Cup- Soccer;
2) Summer Olympics;
3) SB- possibly
