Not until the carryover gets huge, and there's a mandatory payout...so possibly one day of the meet.

If you are into a 52% take less any carry, go for it. The pick five looks to be the much better and likely popular bet

52%???

Yep. 20% the regular way and 40% of the remaing 80% (32% total) carries forward unless there is only one winner, which is the least likely outcome of the set no winners, one winner, multiple winners.

Thanks for clarifying.
Hadn't realized how the takeout worked on this.
Makes it a total bust.
Initially, small players may bet into it, due to the 10 cent increment.
After that, it will sink as fast as the Titanic!

The PK5 is the play!!!

I seldom play them, too, as I would want a 6-figure bankroll to try it.
The 10 cent increment appealed to me, until OTM Al explained how they will butcher the pool with takeout. Pass.......

Don't forget you can bet on the Tri's and Super's with Gulfstreams low 26 % takeout.

Exactly. Its only good for one day, otherwise, you're going to get a large pct of your money confiscated for a rainy day. I love Gulfstream, but i'm not looking to fund their pick 6.

Think about this...you can pick 6 winners and STILL have a large chunk of your money confiscated until mandatory.

It might work better if they would start the pk-6 with something like a guaranteed 25k pool.

We need a blog piece on the pick 6 at HANA blog, so players know what is going on with this bet. I nominate you for that. Cmon Chris :)

They are looking for that slot mentality "Jackpot" Crowd to be interested when the carryover grows. The problem, exposed at Beulah with the $.25 Pick-6 wager, is that once the pot reaches a certain level, BIG players will come in & basically scoop every combo, preventing any single winner. The 'hype' about the building pool carrying over until closing day may fool some people, but hardened horseplayers will just sit back, & try to catch whatever 'dead money' has built up until then.
I'd have rather seen them go with a Dime "9-Line Special",a Pick-9 where one person needed ALL NINE winners on the card. THAT is a jackpot payout that could possibly be hit by someone playing birthday numbers or having a Very Good Day.

I won't be playing the Pick Six but the Pick Five will be a daily wager for me.

You know what though it's a balancing act. I can live with a 26% takeout when your avg field size is above 10. You still can make out like a bandit

The killer with SA is not so much the takeout it's the takeout combined with the paltry field sizes they put forward.

I'm going to be attacking this thing daily while the sharps are sitting on the sideline waiting for this thing to build up as I'm looting the store.

I'm pretty sure that betting into a 52% takeout and having to find winning tickets where the 10 cent win parlay is $32K so I can win the jackpot of $5K is a great deal as long as the sharp guys aren't playing.

Silly long fields for the first day, I think this bet could be very lucrative and succesful if they keep putting up huge fields, cost to play all in ALL 6 races for a dime today $207,900..... any guesses on how much $ will hit the pool today?

OTM Al

$3000 tops, pretty much what it's been in the past

The key is to get their casino players on board and market to normally non racing fans, the initial buildup will take time but once you get some money in the rollover it will obviously prompt more and more play making it worthwhile shortly I'll contribute a fe dollars daily just for the hell of it.

Imagine you hit the Powerball Lotto....but someone else had a winning ticket also. NONE of you gets paid, they do not split the winnings...it carries over until we have only one winner...LAME!

Because it is a dime minimum, I think playing your ticket for 30 cents is probably the best way to play. That way when you win, you have it 3 times.

$7457 in the pick 6 pool, much much better than they have had in the past, the thing that is negative even if you bet it for 30 cents you are not considered a single winner because it was 3 10 cent tickets

OTM Al

I think they clarified that rule in that if you are the only winner, even if you have multiple tickets, you win the whole thing. Does that include the $5000 seed money or is that money just a guarantee?

$595 payout for 5 out of 6 for a dime is not half bad I played two two by twos tickets for $6.40 and went 4/6 and 3/6 had I went a bit deeper I could have hit as I had the two longer shots on one of the tickets and missed two of the lower shots trying to get better odds home. I think gulfstream is going to have a fun meet this year between the p6 and p5

$595 payout for 5 out of 6 for a dime is not half badExcept that the pick 5 paid our 4 of 5 $680.20, more than the pick 6.

Edit: Oops I can't read, was looking at $2 pick 5. The $2 pick 6 paid 11,931.20.

I did not get close today but 10 cent paid 5/6 again noticed in the will pays that had that 3 got his nose up someone would have held the single p6 ticket because the 10 cent payout was $9,700
