View Full Version : Pretty Annoying Change Made By Bris

I don't know if anyone noticed it, but as of Jan 1 2011 Bris decided to change the track code for Philadelphia Park from PHA to PRX.

This change applies both to the file names and the internal representation.

I find it pretty annoying since I am using track code as the unique id in my software and now I have to make some significant changes to it....

They are doing the same for Santa Anita for the Oak Tree...

I am tempted to just go ahead and before importing the data to my system to apply brutal force performing a global rename from PRX to PHA in both charts and past performances although I do not really like the idea from a software engineering scope of view....

Delta Lover,

I believe it was actually PHA that instituted the change.

If I may suggest, just do this: As you import the data change the name back to PHA.

We did that with both PHA and SA (for Oaktree). It is just simpler.

Oak Tree was not held at Santa Anita last year(2010). It was held at Hollywood Park.

They did the same this year with HOL changing the track code as they did before with SA.

The easiest solution appears to be what Dave is suggesting. The ugly think about it is the fact that I have to change the contents of the DRF applying a global rename for all the occurrences of "PRX" to "PHA" so I can handle past performances properly since I do not import them in the data base but keep them as text files for faster processing. Not a really big deal assuming that "PRX" will never be the value of any other field (which I think is the case)

Ya, this is a bit of a headache. I have renamed all prx fields to pha. I imagine though, that at some point I may have to convert everything over to the prx name.

I don't know the story behind the name change, but I don't see any alluring value in the new name.

They've renamed the track to match their name for their casino.

Interestingly, each horse's track stats still include PHA races.

Hey, let's make everything confusing, eh?
