Perennial Finger lakes top trainer Chris Englehart has had a fantastic run at Aqueduct lately, and is poised to tie/break a modern record:

Whenever a trainer gears up for a meet, you'll find that virtually all their horses fire their "A" race or close for awhile. That leads to a lot of winners because getting a horse to fire big is almost as important as having the horse with the most ability. Many times the best horse simply doesn't fire and that opens the door for the horses that do. When you spot your horses well and have them all geared up, some wonderful things can happen. Just ask Englehart and the people that have been selectively betting on him. ;)

The win by "Who's the Cowboy" should have set off alarms for any bettor.

Absolutely true. It seems like every one of his horses were bet like the race was a forgone conclusion.

If Rudy won 7 in a row, there would be trainers and owners outside his barn with pitchforks.

Bringing him back 2 weeks later in a 35k claimer wasn't a great move.

Probably not, but it doesn't change that the giant race last time opened my eyes in a hurry.

I agree, a 98 beyer and he really didn't bounce if there is such a thing for 9 year old horses!
