Not much said from Visio but it looks like a snappy tablet is on the way as shown from the Rose Bowl introductory sponsor.

How tough can it be for manufacturers to roll out one of these? Apple doesn't deserve the marketshare they have. Then again, I guess they do as no one else had the vision.

An analogy,

a mile race, and the gate malfunctions and all but one horse is held in the gate. When the one free horse gets to the 6F marker and is on an easy breeze, and the other horses break........the race is now a perfect example of the tablet wars that are coming. The other horses/Tabs don't even break for another couple of weeks from now.

Being on an easy lead, has it's value.

I think the war is just about over. Although it doesn't mean I won't play more than one horse..........

The bad thing is there was no competition and the prices stayed high. Hopefully by this time next year, there will be a price war.

The "consumer" is apparently embargoed from the CES as only "trade members" are admitted.

I like the ironic twist no consumers allowed for the Consumer Show

I've been a few times and it's exhausting. It wouldn't make sense to the average consumer.

Every year it overlaps with the adult video convention. Makes for an eventful week.

As far as I know, Vizio Tvs are the only ones manufactured in the US. I own a Vizio HDTV for more than 1 1/2 years and it is playing as well as it did on the first day. I bought one for my son and it is playing very well. The life of the Vizio TV is promised to be 50,000 hours.

The launch of the Vizio tablet is good news for consumers. Vizio means quality, to me.

Vizio products are made in Asia, same factories as all the rest. But they are actually an interesting company. Using a very "lite" heavily outsourced model, they control a very large part of the TV market with less than 200 employees. Sharp guys.

I've played with an i-Pad and loved it. Looked at several smart phones (tablets with small screens) and found some of them interesting. Bought a Droid phone for my son for Christmas and played with it some. In all, I enjoyed using all of them. One problem: they are all useless for doing any sort of serious work. I don't play games and don't look at movies online.

I can surf the web and check e-mail on my main computer any time, since I work at home. What I'm looking for is a tablet computer that will run Windows programs. Maybe an Excel spreadsheet and some proprietary trading software. Until they make a tablet computer that is more than froth without substance, I'll wait.

Google did a little "sneak peak" of their tablet release...most if it looks fairly slick. As it well should, it's from the future!

I like that the browser looks more or less like Chrome, and has bookmark sync, etc.

You pretty much sum up my feelings exactly. It sounds like you are looking for a tablet with a Windows platform. The only problem with the ones that are already out is that they don't have the computing power of a Netbook. The iPads are definitely nice looking and nice for the Internet and e-mail, but my iPod Touch can do the same things yet still fits in my pocket.

Yo, Chick, what's the meaning of that?

that's our gang for the PA Intraboard, All-World Handicapping Championship contest. I am an honorary moosehead on the wall, Mr. T, GaryG, and johnhannibal are the talent.

For the actual vid, I watched a movie the other night about Harry Nilsson.

The scenario in my head ( a scary, complicated place).....is that as we are dominating everyone in the contest, just obscenely distancing them, it would rub a little salt in the wounds of all to find that it's all so easy for the gang that they literally dress up in monkey suits and jam in between races to awesome, half forgotten songs.....that's how friggin relaxed the Basterds are.

Let me drink this in. You, Mr. T, 2G's & the guy from The A-Team in a scary, complicated place? I can see it.

Still get a hoot oughta the story of Nilsson & J.Lennon getting booted out a club for aggressively heckling The Smothers Brothers. :jump:
