this is the time of year when you start looking at how meaningful the games are in terms of the playoff picture, and which teams are going to rest starters and which teams may lay down.

the two that stand out are the Steelers-Browns , and Eagles-Cowboys.
Will the Browns lay down and die? The Steelers are playing for homefield.

Will the Eagles "rest up"? The Boys are playing for Garrett's and McGee's livelyhood.

The Ravens cannot drop from the 5 seed, only win the division with a win vs. Cinn. & a Steeler loss.

Make no mistake, the Ravens will be scoreboard watching the Pitt/Clev game. If the Steelers start to pull away, the Ravens will start to pull players. Also, the Ravens have lost to the Bengals 4 of the last 5 games.

+9.5 looks a little high to me.

Dallas +6 vs. Philly - Dallas should win this outright. Jones ain't playin for the draft. Garrett's record will either be 5-3 or 4-4 depending on the outcome - BIG difference in potential salary whether he goes elsewhere (49ers?) or not. McGee is a much better than the public knows, and is also playing in a game that could be BIG to his livelyhood. Eagles resting up this week. Unproven Kolb can do well and still lose given the Eagles problems on defense. TTP.

Seattle +3 vs. St. Louis - I flip-flopped here from being in Bradford's camp early this week. Hasselback is a "gametime decision". However he practiced, and the playoffs are on the line at home. C'mon he's playin'... Raw QB Bradford finished 49ers game well but has shown weaknesses and Seattle will be gameplanning.

Pittsburgh -5.5 vs. CleveLand - 200 yards rushing for pittsburgh? Where's the prop bet? Mendenhall and co playing for a bye and some homefield.

St Louis & Seattle time is 8:20 not 4:15.

Yeah, Dallas should win outright. The problems is they never do. They only win when they're not suppose to. This is why I never bet on them...never.
Anyway, last week of an NFL season is a losers market for betting. Save it for the playoffs.

I think the Steelers will get the job done, but they have been terrible as road favorites this season. They win but rarely cover. I think they'll cover this time.

Also leaning Miami (6-1 on the road) and Jacksonville despite Garrard being out. The Texans are a mess.

Seattle has killed me, so I can't play them. Hope the Rams win the division. At least they have a young QB and an improving defense. Seattle is just awful.

I'm taking the Vikings +3.5 for two reasons:

1) Joe Webb

2) No way Vegas goes 4 and 12 vs. the Lions. ;)

Gimme the Texans and lay the points vs Jax even though the Jags are fighting for a postseason birth.
They come up short today in Houston.

c'mon Cowboys:mad::mad:

- this sucks. If I am reading this behind-the-scenes situation correctly, Jones has already promised Garrett the job next season. So much for motivating these paycheck-first underachievers on Dallas all week. Jones seems to be lying to the media because he is worried about fulfilling the obligation of interviewing a minority before hiring a new official head coach. I probably should have guessed as much given the uncertainty of the lockout.

Seahawks and Rams must be the most boring game of the season. Saints get a bye next week.

So bad the announcers spend 20 minutes talking about a timeout.

You are correct but for us long suffering Seahawks fans we will take it anyway we can get it even a losing record and make the playoffs! You never know what can happen in the playoffs. LOL

Do the Rams have anybody who can catch a pass?

Now I know why they don't throw deep, Saints should be favored by 10 and the NFL West sent to the Canadian League.

Thanks we will need it but it wouldn't be the first time a miracle happened in football.

3-0 this week, but was actually awful in terms of handicapping these games.
From playing the ponies I view causality as often more important than the results.

The Steelers-5.5/Browns selection was fine. I had somewhere above a 70% chance of winning that game.

I lucked out with the other two games.

First I put weight into Garrett motivating the Dallas team - when in fact he has very likely already been guaranteed a Dallas job. Second I assumed Hasselbeck would be starting for Seattle. No edge in these games, which to me is a losing long-term proposition.
