Me niece is lookin' to put together a video retrospective of 2010. She has the Belmont, Preak, Derb, & Breeders Cup.

What other races should be included in a highlight reel?

I'd say the Kentucky Oaks, the Donn, the Wood Memorial, and the BC Mile. That covers most of the year's biggest stars.

I'd add the hunch bettors deluxe of the year-Eclair De Lune winning the Beverly D,and Debussy winning the Arlington Million.Anyways, always nice to see green grass in those year in review videos.

Ferndale Marathon
Hear, hear! :D

How many laps in the Humboldt County Marathon, chick? I think the Nevada books set this year's over/under at 17 (I'd have bet the over).

Do they test the winning hoss and rider (for the record, Come Back Native, steered by Barrington Harvey, captured the 2010 renewal) for dramamine? Half the gallopers might pass out from dizziness (the turns, which come up every eight strides or so, are unbanked) before they've run far enough to collapse from exhaustion.

Forever Ferndale!

Channeling Gunnar Froines,

if anyone gets the chance -- there is nothing more enjoyable than watching the Ferndale Marathon on simulcast, from another track, and observing those who bet it. Watching it from Del Mar was a hoot.

No one with a rooting interest has any idea how many laps it is, there is widespread consternation and confusion.
