This has nothing to do with surfaces and I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings, but is there a more questionable track than Mountaineer Park? I cannot believe how many longshots dramatically improve and how many shorts priced favorites are unplaced or even pulled up, how many jockey's are just blatantly not trying.

Great Lakes Downs (an old favorite over on Betfair) was like Saratoga compared to Mountaineer. It boggles the mind.

Does anyone play this - on a serious basis?

I believe Lambo was complaining about the high percentage rate of winning favorites. Someone must have heard him. :D

yes.

come on lol, are you REALLY that surprised that a class dropper at mountineer even if it's fav got pulled up? this isn't saratoga. you know what the deal is when you put your 2 dollars in the window on an 1/5 shot at mountaineer.

and yes it's a track i play quite often, playing it now.

I play it on a semi-serious basis. And I find it interesting that you start this thread about five minutes after this occurrence in the opener.

Picking up from Tuesday evening's inexplicable race results.

Me too. Laying the short favs at MNR is worth staying up for (midnight over here).

Is there a liquid mkt for MNR on Betfair?

I've actually been playing it for a few years, but more seriously lately because we have a newborn and I do the early shift (12.25 am here right now). That first race was another fine example. I am also pretty sure that some trainers or jockeys are laying their own horses on Betfair. It certainly happens at Philly, and also Calder a few years ago.

And a period is a comma in this case, for us Americans? So 28k pounds, correct?

What were the final odds offered on the 1/5 fav in the first race GM?

if you play the mountain on a serious basis you will 'get a feel' for what works and doesn't....its my number 2 best earner after turf paradise.

Turf Paradise is probably my number one dirt track this time of year. I find Penn quite profitable, too. Maybe I need to study MNR a bit more, certainly don't have a feel for it right (apart from laying the odds on favs).

Why not bet #1 in the first race at MNR? Huge drop in class, good trainer, 50 to one. I bet it to win. Too bad for me that it placed. If I like the connections I don't let high odds get in the way.
