The DMTC Forum has a couple of pick six pools going by it's members. I am not volunteering to operate one here, but I'd be interested in being in for a share.

DMTC has two, one is 10 players @ $150 each, not sure how the selections will be handled, everyone does make recommendations, but I don't know if they have handled the final selections..

The other is 10 or 12 players @ $100 each, in that one four predetermined players will make the selections.

I gues PA will have to decide if this is even a do-able deal.

Any takers?

By the way, both of the DMTC pools filled up in one day.

How would one be able to set up a pool to play the Pik-4 or Pik-6? I unfortunately live in Italy and so am not able to bet so readily the stateside races, but in the big races (KD, BC, Preakness), I bet them somewhat often with friends in Vegas who do the actual betting, we share the costs or wins, etc.

I have a system (who hasn't of course), and I wonder if I wanted to set up a pool system how could it possibly be done considering that such organizations and pools can turn into scams etc. I don't mean to scam ..just really curious if such an honest organization or pools can really be set up..how would anyone join? How would it be offered, who would do the selections? Do any of you remember a Gordon Jones? He wrote a book on handicapping, I purchased one of his books, but coincidentally about 6 or 7 years ago I met him in Vegas, and at the Sam's Town casino race book he would hold conferences on various days and when the opportunity came to play a Pik-6, I think at Santa Anita or Hollywood Park, he would announce the upcoming races Pik-6, and ask for pool money and they/we would submit our portion, etc. He would at times hit, and the pay off would be proportionally distributed. But what I found disappointing was that he would collect sometimes like $800.00 to cover the bets and naturally the pay offs were little to each. I have an idea that a wheel system can be reduced so much to cover costs of about say $150.00 or less, and with luck of course, the pay outs would be much better. But again, the question is, who would do the selections of the horses in the race? If I did it, there would be a riot. I think the idea of a pool is fine, but the actual performance would be not so pleasant. Anyway, just curious..

I'd do it if I were assured that it was legal, which I doubt that it is....I believe in NY state it is actually illegal to place a bet for somebody else....

Anyone out there know the law in this area???

Even if it were legal in NY to place a bet for someone else, you probably run into a whole gray area legal mess on the internet, where I'm sure the RICO act or some interstate wire gambling law comes into play....LOL
