Secretariat shoe auction

Currently on eBay. I went to the site to bid on it and saw that it was up to five thousand bucks with 6days and 22 hours to go. Safe to say that I didn't even bother bidding. Great score for those who can play that high.

Excerpt:
The left front Futurity shoe is mounted on a wooden plaque with blue metal backing containing an engraved plate identifying the race. On the reverse of the plaque, the frame has the handwritten inscription documenting the mounting by Gaffney along with the individual identification numbers. The plaque is hand-signed by the Meadow Racing Stable team of Mr. Gaffney, owner Penny Chenery, and Secretariat's Hall of Fame winning jockey, Ron Turcotte.

Gaffney mounted several of Secretariat's shoes in this particular distinguishable manner, each with their own corresponding individual private code to ensure absolute authenticity. The shoe has been kept in protected storage in the possession of either Mr. Gaffney or the Secretariat historical archives until being consigned to this special eBay auction. The shoe is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and the official winner's circle photo from the race.

Please note this rare offering of original Meadow memorabilia
is our first auction in several years and only our sixth eBay auction ever.

Proceeds from the sale of the shoe will help benefit Mrs. Chenery's Secretariat
Foundation. A very significant and historically important piece as only a
handful of authenticated Secretariat shoes have ever been made available for public auction.

Winner's bid should go over $10k.
