BELMONT FESTIVAL

After July Fourth, the weeks leading up to Saratoga are pretty dull,
so the NYRA is going to try to spice it up some in 2011 with
four twilight cards - Friday July 1, 8 and 15 and Monday, July Fourth.

NYRA will also cut back to a four-day week for the final two weeks
at Belmont before heading to Saratoga with purses equivalent to Saratoga.

Sounds good to me...wonder what times the twilight cards will be? The 4 day week before Spa is good, with trainers shipping up there early, Belmont won't have enough to fill races anyway.

July 1,8 & 15 are at 3:00 p.m. first post.
Monday, July 4th is (today) at the regular post time (despite what is in the Daily News).

No, I like playing the big turf fields and good dirt fields. But the occasional 5 horse field is ok.
