He ran in the '98 KY Derby, and was still a maiden when Tiznow beat him two years later in 2000. In fact he finished his career a maiden after 26 starts in all. Qualified for the KY Derby on the strength of his 3rd place finish in the BC Juvey in '97.

Yeah, I thought about it and knew it had to be him. Aptitude wasn't a maiden in the Derby.

Btw, Nationalore was euthanised after a spill in a MSW at Hollywood a couple of starts after the Tiznow race.
PQ claims he is racing's richest maiden, with $318k in earnings and no wins. Can that be true? Surely there's a horse with more earnings than that that retired early.

I would say that is unlikely in this country.
