You're not as "protected" as you think you are.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/12/03/protected_mode_bypass/

"Protected Mode, which was introduced in version 7 of IE, is intended to prevent exploit code from accessing sensitive parts of the Windows operating system, such as those that create files or change registry settings. But the Verizon Business researchers said they figured out a reliable way to bypass the measure that requires no interaction on the part of the victim."

IE is an abomination to anyone using the internet.

Anyone still using IE clearly enjoys pain, unnecessary delays & general angst.

I was a staunch IE user/defender up until about a year or so ago...then I dabbled in Chrome for a bit and I haven't really looked back since....

Microsoft should be quaking in their boots if they got ME to switch...

I prefer using OPERA as my internet browser. However, I still use one of the older versions of FIREFOX for some video applications. That's because for some reason, some videos don't work while using the WIN AMP media player in OPERA.

And why am I using an older version of FIREFOX sometimes? That's because of the saying...'NEWER IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER'. Thankfully, the older version of FIREFOX I use, was available at www.oldversion.com

As for INTERNET EXPLORER

T2WI was going to add Opera to my list, but felt the top three were enough probably. Opera's mini & mobile browsers are top notch.

Just read an article about an hour ago that IE market share is at 49% and Firefox at 29%. Look for more malware attacks on FF and Chrome as they become more popular and IE declines.

Btw the guy gave IE9 a fairly favorable review though not glowing.
