Finally approved for Batavia Downs in Western NY. Legal question
was becase BD is owned by OTB. With that hurdle cleared, VLTs will be up and running later spring/early summer 2004.
Construction of VLT center is underway at FL, so Western NY will be moving into the new millenium soon.

Looking at immediate 25% hike with another 25% not to long after that. They slots will start Jan-Feb, racing starts April.
Batavia harness will get a big boost as well. Maybe dejavous 1950's for BD evening cards? Already hearing rumblings about past stables, long since out of the busiess looking at a return to racing. This is a good thing.

congrats. we are getting them at saratoga raceway hopefully on new year's eve. will help out the horseman and get better quality racing to all as well!

Finger Lakes is planning on having them up and running by early February and look for up to a 40% increase in purses to start the 2004 season in April! Batavia harness looking to do the same quickly and expect to TRIPLE purses!
Good news for FL - they are putting in a sports bar in the casino area and will offer simucasting from 10am until.......midnhght?

Looking to add about 225 jobs to the area...I got l to look into this. A mid-life career change sounds pretty good to me, especially if it invloves gambling and booze! <G>
