looks like you have to agree with InsideThePylons.

I doubt it will happen due to advertising money, but i hope press ask WHY the other ADW's don't seem to be playing along.

I'd like to know why people thought I was foolish when I said one of the biggest opponents to reduced takeout was the ADWs? Well, sadly, here's proof. Being right isn't always all that satisfying.

Huh?

Independant ADWs are taking it everywhere - the ones that are not are track owned wagering entities. Two of which are under (sorry were under) the tracknet umbrella.

I'm not sure who said you were foolish, but ADW's will receive lower margins as takeout goes down, so of course some will be against it. I'm thrilled to see that a lot of ADW's out there are looking to the long term, and are accepting lower margins and offering the signal.

It's no shock to me that the less player friendly, short-sighted ADW's are the ones not offering Hialeah.

There has to be a point Dean where the arbitrage opportunity that any ADW operates under goes away and thus it isn't worthwhile to take these tracks. This would also be affected by the level of rebate that they are contractually obligated to give. If you are giving 5 points in rebate and 5 points to the track, a 10% takeout rate is going to lose you money once you add in operating expenses even if handle is going through the roof. It's not a perfect example I know but I think it illustrates what I mean.

If takeout goes to 10-12% there will be no demand for rebates and no need for them either.

That's fine - but that is not what is happening here.

There are about 45 ADWs out there, and by my count 42 of them are taking Hialeah. The three mentioned who are not are track owned.

3/45 = 6% of ADWs are not taking it, so it is hardly an ADW problem: It is a track owned ADW problem.

If this fails doesn't anybody besides myself think it will be because players aren't going to jump on quarter horse racing because they don't bet it anyway?

More importantly the learning curve got much easier.

Countless newbies would actually stay afloat in the game longer.
Many will make it to flat-bet proficiency and support the game
perhaps for the rest of their lives.

A self-sufficient industry is what we should be striving for.
Right now all indications are that Mr. Brunetti wants a casino
and this 12% takeout isn't going to last very long.

Once he gets that casino he's going to go back to his old ways.
Battering the horse racing bettors.
