The American Interest has a cool blog that brings you daily news as if it was 150 years ago in 1860. The first shot hasn't yet been fired, but secessionist talk abounds!

This is so neat! I have a feeling the South is going to win this time!

Guys, we have folks, here in the South, that still go in for this stuff--big time. Attorneys, bankers, farmers, etc, etc--they enjoy having meet and greets in fields throughout the countryside staging their "Civil War re-enactments." (It ain't my deal, but they like it; they have fun. Some of 'em involve their wives and children, too. They all do--period dress.)

The "taking" of whatever hill or mountaintop they're on for the weekend, though, always seems to have a better outcome than 150 years ago--WE WIN. Plus the aftermath ain't as bloody, and I believe they tailgate with whiskey, beer, and all sorts of fine food.

GT, the blog reads more like a leadup to Cold Mountain than Gone With The Wind.

As long as it's not Brokeback Mountain.
If it is, don't tell me. ;)
