Excerpts:

Buddy's Saint, a graded stakes winner at 2 that had been nearing a return to the races, broke down in a workout on the Belmont Park main track Nov. 14 and was euthanized, according to a statement released by the New York Racing Association.

According to Dr. Anthony Verderosa, chief examining veterinarian of the NYRA, Buddy’s Saint fractured his left shoulder while breezing over Belmont’s main track

Buddy's Saint had returned to the work tab on Aug. 28 and had 11 published workouts, the most recent being four furlongs at Belmont in :48.67 on Nov. 8.

Nice little horse, horrible ending...he must have hit the ground really hard to fracture a shoulder. I hate this.

R.I.P:(

I know that I have heard of horses fracturing their shoulders while breezing, but without falling or "hitting the ground," (unless it wasn't meant in the common sense).

RIP, Poor Sweet Boy , I believe he was from St Liams only crop .Eli Lomita had a string of horses running that all had Buddy in their names , named after his dog. Big loss for him and Levine.

You don't have to fall on big sandy to suffer a devastating injury.

Yes, thanks for posting the link, dan...
leave it to Barbara Livingston to put into words, what her photos always show...the heart & soul of horses. I'm sure the Levine's and all the connections appreciate her tribute to this sweet horse. My heart goes out to them.
