Does ESPN ever get it that this is a horrible way to watch a race?

I love the blimp shot, and frankly the angles they are showing, and sensible timing of the cuts between angles, are imo providing some of the best live racing coverage I have ever seen on these big days. that turf race just now under the lights was beautiful to watch.

Its great after the race when you could watch a horses move.....unfortunately when the race is being run you cant tell who is who.

It's a helicopter shot, much better than a blimp. Much easier to stay above the horses and follow the action.

It is a great view. Maybe a split screen would be better.

Agree 100%.

But I guess given a choice between the blimp shot and one of the other ridiculous shots (head on for the backstretch run, or the ground level shot as the horses run by) I'll take the blimp shot.

Nothing is worse than the shot at the bottom of the rail. They went to that in the first race, can't tell a damn thing.

I hate the ground shots. I love the over head, but would prefer to see that in the replay...not during the actual race. I think maybe they are using 1 or 2 too many angles.

I couldn't agree more! The overhead shot is great after the race as some have mentioned but while the race is on switching angles so quickly makes it very difficult to watch. Very annoying.

I dont mind the overhead shot, but think it would be better after the race. I hate the camera under the rail shot. I really like the after the race "jockey cam" they have done. rbj

Detest the overhead visuals, the traditional views are still the best. The best race so far happened quite by accident. When the Michigan/Illinois football game on ESPN went triple overtime, TVG was permitted to show Uncle Mo's juvenile romp live, the old fashioned way. Ironically, it was not necessary, as ESPN cut to the race on time, so we had our choice. I chose TVG with its traditional camera coverage.

The blimp view is horrible and the track-level camera angles are equally bad. Why they can't just use the damn track feed is beyond me!
