Can anyone provide info on: A) ROI for all favorites B) ROI for favorites below even- money (lumped as a group) C) the odds on average that favorites are held at in 8 and 9 horse fields?

ps-Can we please let Zenyatta sit this thread out?

A) ROI for all favorites
2009: Win% 36.39 ROI .8442 Avg Mutuel 4.64
2010 through October(but I don't have Jan-Mar): Win% 37.12 ROI .8504 Avg Mutuel 4.58

B) ROI for favorites below even- money (lumped as a group)
2009: Win% 52.83 ROI .8657 Avg Mutuel 3.28
2010 through October(but I don't have Jan-Mar): Win% 53.65 ROI .8787 Avg Mutuel 3.28

TX a million Chas. I'm surprised that faves (15% loss?) don't cut a little more into the skim. In fact, don't some tracks take slightly less than (the standard?) 17% from the win pool?- Which would mean faves don't even outpace random numbers. Also, I appreciate the info you supplied on avg payoff for winning faves, but was more curious concerning avg odds on all faves, both winners and losers. I don't think that can be extrapolated from the stuff you gave me.

Unfortunately I can't find a way to get avg odds from my database. I use Jcapper though, so maybe another user knows how to find that info.

At NYRA this year
All winning and losing fav in 8 horse fields $1.74
9 horse $1.86

In Oct this year betting 4/5 or lower fav to win is a wash
winning % .62

I get 1.56 as average odds for all favorites. For 8 horse fields 1.55; for 9 horse fields 1.68.
