The PA results look very suspect. They have Onorato (D) over Corbett (R), Sestak (D) over Toomey (R) and Callahan (D) over Dent (R). All 3 Dems were trailing in the polls - some heavily. The early precincts reporting must be all Dem. I remember in 2004 they had Kerry over Bush 75-25 in the early going and it ended up 51-49.

That was a fun night for politics.

This just in.... Mondale has lost every state but his own.

You have GOT to tune into MSNBC....

Chrissy interviews Michelle Bachmann after her win. 1st question is about investigating Dem's for 'unamerican behavior' - She completely ignores the question and goes to her points. Guy behind Bachmann is waving a "How's that tingle now, Chris?" sign

Bachmann ends up saying something about his tingle as well at the end of the interview.

Now that is great TV

The most significant non-political thing to come out of this election is the resulting government gridlock which will be great for financial markets. Politically, the redrawing of district lines for the 2012 election is a biggie.

Yeah I just saw it swing over. But Toomey has a much tougher challenge although with only 70% reporting and a 51.2-48.8 deficit, it is still not determined. Toomey lives near me and I'm pulling for him. Dent trailing is a huge surprise but again, there's votes to count.

They have historical county by county records. They can project what's left after analyzing what's already in. It's very accurate for the most part. At about twenty percent as long as a few major counties are not outstanding, they can project what's left pretty easy

In Ohio, once Cleveland and cincinnati are in it's over. Columbus, the larger of the three, almost always splits fifty fifty, so it rarely makes a difference

Every state Is like that.

I wondered that as well. They have very sophisticated software. In the last few elections once they make 'a call' I don't believe any of them have had to retract.

Something like they knew the districts that have come in and they extrapolate or already have a very good idea of the numbers on the unreported areas.

republicans lose the senate and get wiped out in 2006 before the tea party existed. now in 2010 with tea party energy underneath them the repubs take back about 8 seats in the senate, and yet people say the tea party cost them the senate, are you kidding me? none of those clods that the rinos supported were going to win, NONE.

the tea party in less than two years has made a giant impact on the national election, despite all these armchair experts trying to label it as this that or the other, and now the talk is about their failures? keep on dreaming if you think that because this is going to roll on for two more years and the second red wave is going to finish the job.

NTG,
You hit the nail on the head about the candidates. The TP is new, a work in progress as a group. What it isn't, is a work in progress of belief of issues and resolutions. It's not going away. THE TP is made up of people that want to fix the country

What a lot of people are mad at, is BOTH partys. Me included. The left somehow thinks of the TP as extreme rightwing. It's not. It's people that are fed up with the same ol same old, which is breaking the country.

Most leftys don't understand that. They view TP folks as simply RW extremists. I don't know if thye get that from the media outlets they read or hear, or if they are simply myopic. Either way, they're wrong.

In 2012 the TP may have other weak candidates too, but the fact remains its members are focused on most important issue- limit and improve our government. Control the spending, cut costs where possible, balance the budget, protect our borders, eliminate free rides for those that feel entitled to thers' money from cradle to grave.

only if her caucus of Dems re-elect her as speaker.

You have to stand for re-election as majority leader etc. With only your own party voting. Rarely does it not go to the member with the most seniority etc. But, after what she has presided over........she is toast.

Maybe this is true of you, ElKabong, but the facts show that 87% of self-identified TP voters pulled the lever for Republicans yesterday (in the stat that I saw). That's 7 of 8. So they're not as fed up with Republicans, apparently, even where they OUGHT to be according to their own stated principles.

The co-opting of the TP by the establishment Republicans will now begin in earnest.

Anyway, the Democrats deserve this. Judging from their response to getting crushed yesterday, they still have no clue.

No, I usually dont think about what everyone else is thinking as my FIRST thought. But that doesnt mean I dont listen and hear them. Your elitist attitude (your remarks about not caring what mack thinks) is the same thing that got the dems and progressives in trouble tonight. WASHINGTON wasnt listening!

OK, Newtothegame, you win. Anybody who thinks for themselves is now officially an elitist. As long as we are using that twisted bit of logic, I guess your fellow conservatives are really over-the-top elitists with their condescending attitudes toward the misguided majority of California. You know - those dumb hippy liberals in CA who just can't grasp the obvious and voted for Boxer, Brown, and Pelosi last night.

Of course, it's only natural that you or any other righties here would avoid mentioning such an obvious example of an elitist attitude. Why is that? Because you guys live by the following term:

double standard
n a set of principles that allows greater freedom to one person or group than to another

Damn! I hope I wasn't thinking for myself again and not caring at all about what the majority here prefer to believe.

Most speculation is speculating that she will now quit entirely.
Being demoted to Minority Leader is not something that she will take kindly to. The old battle axe is 70 now, time to ride off into the sunset. She and her old man own a winery, she can go there and pop a cork or two or three, and think about her days of power. Best bet is to make a long winded phony emotional retirement speech, and then go home to the state she helped ruin.

lol is there anything you and mosty can't spin??
Now where did I say thinking for yourself makes you an elitist? Please show me that paragraph or sentence.
In case you missed it, here let me show you again why I said "elitist attitude"...
You said you didnt care what mack thought. Thats the same mentality that just got a wave of dems booted from congress. Thats an elitist attitude. They failed to listen to the majority.
There is nothing wrong with thinking for self...there is alot wrong with point blank telling someone you could care less what they think (as the dems did with the healthcare bill). But obviously, you can't see that!

As for california....they have to live with their decisions. Not me. The majority spoke in California and I respect that. Thats how our election processes work in case you didnt notice. Do I agree with their choices? Nope...but again I dont live their. That doesnt mean I have a right to say "I dont care what they think this is how it should be".
They voted, they live with it. Just as I have to live with vitter for another term.

What a lot of people are mad at, is BOTH partys. Me included. The left somehow thinks of the TP as extreme rightwing. It's not. It's people that are fed up with the same ol same old, which is breaking the country.

I totally agree with you.

I realized this one day when my wife was selling stuff on EBay. One of the items was a collection of all the winning Presidential slogan-pins. I noticed how they were mounted... two to the left, three to the right, back to the left, back right. And that's how it has been for the last 100 years: left, right, left, right.

Why is that? Because neither side really cares about us and after about three years (max) WE boot them out.

Bks,

In all honesty, no pollster ever asked me if I was a "tea party" type. How would they come to the 87% figure? A lot of people I know are like-minded w/ me on politics. How would a pollster identify someone they would classify as a tea party member?

TP folks are not really affiliated with any party. I'm a registered Independant. I do know a lot of folks that have the TP mentality currently that voted R until 2008, now are seeing nat'l politics FWIW....Nothing more than "the ruling class" mentality & that mentality lives on both sides. The pendulum swings left to right, right to left....In the end, what changes? Nothing.

If they (TP elect) do get co-opted, then 2006 and 2008 will be re-enacted, the R's get dumped. People are fed up with left/ right politics. It's not about the laundry anymore. People are looking for permanent fixes to entitlement problems.
