This is stupefying. Of course it may be a good simulation of what could happen if a lone closer faces a field full of speed....could because the winning rail move defies reality. The voice calling this crap seems vaguely familiar....
All I can say is if Ruffian gets loose on a strip playing like CD did last time around, nothing catches her.
The comments are pretty funny too.

Only in a fantasy race would that come out like that... got to love the West Coast Sillycon Valley take though. Gee wonder why they left out the ears picked thing... they put in the DEAD LAST.

The comments are pretty funny too.I laughed when they started whipping the horses right out of the gate. By the time they got into the stretch, my monitor showed three horses morphing into hamburgers on the screen.
Obviously, the race was simulated by a Z-ealot. No way she breezes past this field.

Yeah Big Z was under a drive for a mile and eighth!!!
It was Larry Collmus announcing it. he announces Monmouth and Gulfstream
Pretty good.
All they need is to have BB pull up in the stretch. :D

I also thought it odd and a little perverse to put Barbaro in this race at 9.5F at Pimlico. Not good karma.

Pimlico looks like it's situated in a beautiful area. I'm going to contact a real estate agent in the morning to start looking for a home.

Rachel Alexandra finishes last? Obvious West Coast Bias.
Nice try by Andymays, what with the backdrop and even fountains in the Pimlico infield.
Unfortunately Pimlico has a lot of gold all over the place.
Next time pay attention to the details heh? ;)

I wonder where Peppers Pride would have finished? Something tells me Rachel wouldn't have even beaten PP in this "fantasy."

Are they going to show this on 60 Minutes tomorrow night as part of the Zen segment? I saw the 60 Minutes logo on the starting gate. Zen beating Affirmed - pure fantasy even with the wide trip Affirmed had!

i don't know if they intended this to be humorous, but that sure gave me a laugh for today.

The trouble with these sims (which I love in Equisim) is that every horse always has a perfect trip..........and they all break well......... and nobody gets put too wide on the turn etc
In the real world...........shit happens..........

Come on Ralph, Affirmed was carried very wide around the first turn and I think he was wide for the final turn, too! :)

:D . I'd say a BIT off. I have to find the video that shows Zenyatta beating Jimmie Johnson and Tony Stewart at the wire in the Daytona. :D

some guy was saying that Santa Anita is going back to dirt so that they can get the Preakness and have the Preakness Oak Tree/SA instead of Pimlico.
I told him no... some guy named Andymays was behind the movement:)

I have now removed Larry from my Christmas card list.

I have no idea how I ended up in this thread. I guess I'm in good company with that field except that they got the order of finish way way way wrong.

I haven't though about lobbying for the Preakness and after thinking about it for a few seconds I'm still not lobbying for the Preakness.

I downloaded the card that's available on bris right now. Tossed it in equisim and after several runs of the sim, she only wins one. The one where I chose last years classic as the pace line for Z. So if she runs the same exact race as last year, she wins by 2L
I didn't manipulate anything else, nothing on the other horses. It should be interesting.
I tossed that same card in jcapper and the thing that made me laugh was that all of my Udms for horses coming out of much weaker races were flagged on Z.
It's going to be a fun week.
I thought Smith rode her great in that simulation.

This is what is driving me nuts......
For me, I love the game but my favorite part of the sport is it's rich history. I'm 54 and I've watched every triple crown race on TV since I was 3 years old except for one Derby when I was doing a big dog rescue thing.
In my mind, Secretariet was the dude. Then you have (other dudes and dudetts); Man O War, Seattle Slew, Kelso, Native Dancer, Spectacular Bid, Dr. Fager, Affirmed, Ruffian, Phar Lap, Seabuscuit, Citation, and Forego, to name a few.
I'm not Zen bashing, but geesh. I'm just not ready to add her name to the list. Her 2010 campaign has clearly been orchestrated to keep her winning streak going. If she wins this years BC Classic I'll be more than happy for her and will hold her in much higher esteem.
To say she's the greatest race horse in the history of the sport is a bit much for me to stomach.
DISCLAIMER - This post is in no way intended to bash Zen. It's intent is to honor the great ones that came before her. :)

Nice post TrackRat. Fine one, in fact; and well reasoned. Sometimes, really, its all one needs to exercise.

If it ever leaves B'more it's going to Gulfstream
I think if it does leave, the triple crown is over.
