STAMFORD, Conn. – The right for World Wrestling Entertainment (http://www.wwe.com/inside/standupforwwe/fansrighttovote#) fans to vote was threatened Friday by Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz, who gave the authority to local poll workers to determine that if anyone shows up to the polls on November 2 wearing any WWE merchandise, whether it is a John Cena (http://www.wwe.com/superstars/raw/johncena/) T-shirt or a Randy Orton (http://www.wwe.com/superstars/raw/randyorton/) wristband, they may be forced to go home and change, cover it up, or take it off in order to vote.

“Denying our fans the right to vote, denying them their First Amendment rights, regardless if they are Democrat, Republican or Independent, is un-American, unconstitutional and blatantly discriminatory,” said Vince McMahon, Chairman and CEO of WWE (http://www.wwe.com/inside/standupforwwe/fansrighttovote#).

I take it that this Secretary of State is another free speech-hating left wing whacko? What does she have against the WWE? Did some wrestler rough her up or something? What's her beef? Anyone know?

I watched "V for Vendetta" on FX again last night. Maybe they should trade in their shirts for a mask.

By that analogy, anyone showing up to vote wearing ANY African garb should be denied.

In this administrations twisted way of thinking and governing it is perfectly legal for Black Panthers to guard the doors of a polling place with night sticks and threaten anyone who wants to vote.

BUT IF YOU WEAR A JOHN CENA T-SHIRT THAT WOULD DEFINETLY BE A CRIME.

By the way, Dodd is the current senator and he of course, retired (couldn't win) so they stuck 20 year Attorney General Dick Blumenthal in there. Bykewitz tried to get the Attorney General job, but didn't meet the 10 practicing law qualification. She tried to snake her way in there anyway, by suing or whatever they do, and she got bounced. These dems in Ct will do anything to keep going. Blumenthal proclaims he's the champion of the little guy fighting against big business, this guy has lost more jobs/companies in Ct than you can imagine. But he did save Aunt Millies beachfront path and beach rights from public use.

I'm wearing my "W 2004" hat to go vote. If anyone busts my balls I'll just say it's for the Wisconsin football team. That should play well here in Penn State country. As we used to say back in Brooklyn, "F**k 'em if they can't take a joke".

For a long time, the only place I could find this story was on wacko right wing blogs. Today I found it on yahoo news. And guess what? It isn't what they are telling you.
The way the story reads on the wacko rightie blogs, the Secretary of State issued an order to election judges that if someone showed up to vote wearing a WWE shirt they would have to cover it up, change it, or go home.
There was no order; there was an advisory. That advisory said that election officials could ask a person wearing such a shirt to cover it up or to go home and change if that person was causing a disturbance by wearing the shirt.
So, if you go to the polls wearing a John Cena (whoever the heck he is) shirt, and stand in line quietly and vote, you should have no problem. On the other hand, if you go there wearing a WWE shirt and act like Rowdy Roddy Piper (whoever the heck he is) you could have problems.

who is john cena?...proves what i've long thought about you..
shouldn't it be about the vote and not what you're wearing? i've never been fond of the peace symbol, but once i left college i stopped ripping them off the cowards who wore them..

ya gotta lov it!

STAMFORD, Conn. – To celebrate the victory of restoring voters’ right to wear WWE clothing at the polls, World Wrestling Entertainment (http://www.wwe.com/inside/standupforwwe/merchpolls#) will be giving away WWE merchandise near select Connecticut poll locations on Election Day, this Tuesday, Nov. 2.

“I can’t think of a better way for WWE (http://www.wwe.com/inside/standupforwwe/merchpolls#) fans to celebrate their constitutional rights and freedom of expression while voting than to proudly wear the WWE merchandise that Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz attempted to prohibit from the polls,” said Vince McMahon, Chairman and CEO, World Wrestling Entertainment.

Out of respect for voters from all political parties, WWE will not be handing out merchandise within 75 feet of polling locations, and merchandise will be available on a first come, first served basis.
