Wheeling Wednesday Matinee

Race 1: CTW Opa Walter (# 1) 5/2

This one is a first time starter with a relatively new sire. Can only find half siblings with this new sires’ dad. This sire was 9 wins out of 13 starts that can be an indication of something special. The importance of his schooling races leads me to him as he raced hugging the rail in both trips and both times were in the mid 30:60’s.

Kiowa Vancleave (# 7) 7/2 is the main opposition. His sire, Dragon Fire won 29 out of 58 lifetime starts. He also won four straight at Bluffs in Iowa when starting out and did have 4 of 5 wins in stake competition there. Mom’s side had 9 in that litter and only 5 made it to the races. Only 5 wins for that group but Kiowa Hart Donna never raced and this is her only litter to date. If the mom had raced, this one might have been top pick.

Race 3: Kiowa Down Right (# 3) 3/1

Winner last out as top pick. Has the breeding for early speed that has served this one well. Has won last two with others in his wake. A sub 30:00 race is in his future. For the exotics, looking to Gone Bon Wired (# 5) whose speed is all early and looks to follow the top pick around the track. I also like Jax Nadia (# 8) who is racing sharp and the post (trap 8) should not hurt at all.

Race 7: Hail Storm Bones (# 5) 13/1

HSB is the sibling of Jivin Jiovanny who was entered on Monday (writing this on Sunday night). Both of these were bred for early speed and lineage has a propensity to win at first asking. Both these won last week in their initial race of their careers. Things may be a little tougher this go round but I am betting them both as they climb up the class ladder. You can bet across the board as he paid well last week and hoping for same.

Race 10: Marvin Gaye (# 8) 7/1

Seems to win more races at the C level than one would expect. Look for this one to win in this class either this start or the next. History of this one would have him win a couple starts after winning in C and then bottom out at the A level. Hopefully he is missed by the wagering-public. Lifetime has three of his wins from this trap #8 and two 2nds with two off the board out of 7 starts from that post.

First Wheeling synopsis I've seen. Very cool. I could NEVER hit there. I was trying to handicap them like they were little horses w/o jockeys. Just didn't work. Not at all.

Thank you Mountianman...was at your neck of the woods on Derby Day..plus you had that Pokier tourney going on at the same time...quite a crowd that day. If you come across the mutuel manager Timmy, tell him bobby z says hello. Then ask him about his first trip to Scioto Downs.

probably a stupid question but here is goes - I'm in California, is there an ADW outlet that covers the Dogs? Spent a lot of time in Az and always loved hitting the dog track.

thx!

Race 1: CTW Opa Walter (# 1) 5/2 Best way to describe this race is to quote the announcer when he said “Way Too Strong For Anyone To Catch”.

Race 3: Kiowa Down Right (# 3) 3/1 broke slow, closed to near the front into the turn and then was bumped out of it. Did not like being bothered.

Race 7: Hail Storm Bones (# 5) 13/1 left slower than last week, raced in traffic and gained 4th to the turn, was bumper 4 wide and remained out in no man’s land. Raced better than the trip will indicate. Might bet back next out.

Race 10: Marvin Gaye (# 8) 7/1 broke slow and was 4 wide in the turn, tried the inside on the backside while closing into a blind switch. Held 4th coming home. Will bet back next out.
