God blessed both the miners and the rig operators.

Thank God FEMA and the Obama admistration had not a blasted thing to do with resolving this near tragedy.

A wonderful scene when Mr. Silva, 31, was reunited with his wife and son.

I don't see much drama here. They've been able to walk around and have been eating chimichanga's or whatever for a few weeks. That little girl years ago in Texas, now that was drama. Biggest theater on this beat is when this story broke one of the guys, 50 years old, his wife showed up with his picture in support. Same day his girlfriend also showed up holding his picture. Cat fight ensued. Rarrrrrrrrrr. Wait til he comes up.

Obsessive and pathetic DJ...really?

The man, for all his shortcomings, has mastered the art of permeating every thought in some folks' heads. Sorry that Obama is who comes to your mind when watching this rescue.

agree with you Phantom, but people want to take their shots, so they'll do it anywhere.

I was going to say however, that this link may be the first time many here have watched MSNBC :)

I'll probably get my head handed to me but:

I'm happy for these guys and their families but do we really need to updated about this drama constantly? Had this happened in Kentucky would the Chilean news be reporting on this 24/7?

I think not.

The featured entree last evening in the mine was grilled, seared, whole-roasted tenderloin of beef covered with a special chilean mushroom sauce. Served with buttered baby red potatoes, green vegetables and French bread rolls... er something like that.

I just hope they make it out OK. I'm on pins & needles here.

There is more fine USA contribution to this. The now standard rescue technique was first "invented" by Joe Fellin at Sheppton Mine in 1963. Previous to this it was considered too dangerous to rescue directly due to cave-ins and toxic or explosive gases. The miners were left to die and the mines sealed up.

He saved his brother by his determination not to give up. One of the wives saved the day when they found that they could only go to an 18 inch hole for the two big guys - they could not close the metal capsule. She suggested they dressed over in a parachute silk plastered with hog grease - it worked. The expert driller Ronnie Sando wrote a book. Ronnie sensed a guiding spirit helping them at all times. Enough lessons there to fill a lifetime.

(http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1010/43592.html):

In an interview with AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, Matthews railed against the tea party, saying its central belief is “every man for himself. …No more taxes, no more government, no more everything. No more safety net.”

“You know these people, if they were every man for himself down in that mine, they wouldn't have gotten out,” Matthews added.

“That's exactly right,” Trumka chimed in.

Matthews continued: “They would have been killing each other after about two days.”

That's just too stupid for words. This Trumka fella ain't too bright, either.

If that's his understanding of TEA party principles, he is clearly ineligible to comment on them any further. But since he has tenure at MSNBseizure, his job is safe.

That's about par for the course for Mathews. My point is that anyone who tries to do some 'what if politicizing' on this event is totally lame...

How would Castro have handled this?
Jimmy Carter?
The Ayatollah?
Mao?

How would Castro have handled this? Declared the mine a prison and the miners enemies of the people
Jimmy Carter? Crashed 3 helicopters in a nearby field
The Ayatollah? Claimed it was allah's will and that they were his prisioners
Mao? Re-populated with 33 new babies

Obama? What the hell is your hurry? It's only been 69 days!

Bill Clinton? 33, maybe 34 ( the mistress!) personal visits to "console" family
