Gents,
As usual watching this evening's U.S. racing, and I couldn't help but notice the number of wins by horses running at lesser tracks whose last-time-out run was on the Tapeta surface at Presque Isle.
Examples:
"Sir Bubba" 7/1 winner of the 5th at Finger Lakes;
"The Cuff Shooter" 1/1 winner of the 6th at Finger Lakes;
"Pendulum" 7/2 winner of the 5th at Delaware;
and a few others ............ all of whom raced last-time-out at Presque Isle.

I dunno, maybe this particular evening was a "spike", but I intend to keep an eye on this aspect in future.

Certainly has produced some bombs. Requires a lot of reading the PPs of the nationwide tracks to find PID shippers.

same thing happens at Tampa Bay Downs at the start of their meet with Hawthorne shippers.. atleast it did a couple years ago

I remember seeing the same thing at KEE either last year or the year before.

It pays to keep track of where the winners come from at the start of a meet. A word of caution, it is not always the same place every year.

FG shippers heading north. This varies year to year but I think there is something to be said for horses who've been racing over tiring surfaces (i.e. Tapeta at Presque Isle definitely qualifies) and move to a more speed favoring surface.
