In the latest fiasco affecting those of us who watch race replays
Dish and Cablevision are in a dispute involving an increased fee demand from Cablevision.

As a result, Cablevision has pulled the signal from Dish, and Dish is offering some additional sports channels to its own subcsribers for free
which, frankly is no interest to me.

Big question: For anyone familiar with this topic. Why can't NYRA
create a channel to show replays and thereby generate add'l revenue
for itself, as against relying on a Cablevision or related cable system
to show replays, or for that matter, even live racing?

Well, I got lucky. HRTV shows the replays the following day at 5:30 am

Still interested if the concept of Nyra having its own TV channel makes
any sense as a means of generating additional income.

Probably because it would compete with the OTB channel. There is a replay show on MSG, but not sure if that is what you are talking about.

Exactly. I DVR the replay show everyday. Luckily my DVR has a large capacity.

Another good reason to have HRTV live feed. I can't do w/out it.

NYRA should have live race video streaming. It would require NYS approval.

You can view replays at NYRA.com. Scroll to near bottom on left-hand side of web page and click Video Replay.

Hi Big:

I do remember those days when Harvey pack ran the show along
with guest announcers such as Frank Wright and Charsley Cantey.

Unfortunatelt that was then and this is now.

Underscoring this issue is the fact cablevision now has pulled the
signal for the Giants to their customers in addition toi pulling the replays from
The Dish network

Seems to me all Cablevision ciustomers should move to Fios or
Dish and unite against this insanity.

The dispute between Dish and the Dolan Bros( owners of Cablevision and MSG) is an ongoing feud. Apparently Cablevision wants DIsh to carry some obscure music channel which gets very few viewers in order to maintain carriage of MSG.
BTW in case Dish subs have not noticed, Dish is not permitted to carry MSG in HD because of the feud with Dish.
Now, Fox is playing hardball with Cablevision and has pulled all Fox owned over the air stations from Cablevision AND Dish subscribers.
This is a real mess.
Two companies have set up an adversarial relationship and as a result the customer gets screwed.
I have been involved in the pay tv business as a technician for over 12 years. I am well versed on these disputes.
Now, before anyone goes off on a "the government needs to get involved" tangent, forget it.
No way do I want those donkeys getting involved in another business. They( Washington politicians) have done enough damage.

First, sorry about the typos.

Second, I took my friends to the Giant game today and discovered
they, as Cablevision Customers can't get the Giant games!!

They are actively seeking another provider, maybe Dish(can't get FIOS),
and I'd guess Cablevision, even if they don't lose customers now, will be impacted in the near future either by competition or some Federal authority..
