View Full Version : Racing terminology
I have just read the 10-07 chart of race 5 at Charles Town and would like to know if anyone here knows what the term "bucked jumped" means.
Thanks in advance.

TJC"Buck jumped: Horse is leapt-over by skittish deer while race is in progress."
I think it's pretty rare.
I ask a serious question and get a smart ass remark.
Thanks.

You really don't know what that might mean?
I would surmise the horse tried to buck off the rider
And then jumped in the air
You don't provide a context, but I might go looking for a replay of the race. That would probably clear it up pretty well

Means the horse jumped over something (shadow?), and tried to buck the rider off at the same time. Bound to result in the loss of the horse's action for a few strides and the loss of several lengths.

I just watched the replay...the horse broke well and after about 100 yds started trying to buck the rider off and then disappeared from the video.
