Ritvo said he has joined Calabro in planning for several new betting products for Gulfstream in 2011.

“We could announce some things soon,” Ritvo said.

One possibility is a Pick 4 on each day’s first four races. Because Gulfstream already offers a Pick 4 on its last four races, it would not need approval from the Florida Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering.

On Sept. 29, Gulfstream applied with the Florida DPMW to have a Quad Superfecta in 2011.

Quad Superfecta in 2011.

I can't see this bet becoming popular.

Can anyone explain how difficult a wager like this is to hit?

It's impossible and also offers logistical problems which will cause big problems.

Impossible because of the magnitude of combinations needed to hit hit. Just boxing 4 horses in each of the 4 races = 331,776 combinations. Even for a dime that costs $33,177.60.

Impossible because of the problems that can arise from the complexity of a 4 race bet. Exchanging tickets would be a nightmare. Late scratches would basically be a death sentence for anybody who has already bet their exchanges....etc.

It's a joke that these morons think that this will save racing.

It's the opposite of what they should be doing but that never stopped them before.

It would nice if they spend few bucks and fixed the teletimer.

I would have a laugh going to the window and asking for a $1382.40 quad-superfecta box.

The teller's machines at Del Mar can't take a bet over $250 and the teller's machines at Fairplex can't take a bet over $50. Yes, these are the machines worked by a teller.

The combination of the above is so ridiculous that it's got to be a joke.

Unless they seed this thing with half a million, the quad superfecta has absolutely no chance of doing anything. I'd rather buy a lottery ticket.

Excerpt:

Respected, well liked, and with a reputation as a straight shooter, this newly created post is easily the most challenging of Ritvo’s varied career, one in which he achieved degrees of success on virtually every level.

His role, which sources have best described as a creative liaison, his mission will be to bring the various groups together, including bettors, for the benefit of all.
