Renaming Stakes races stupidly -Redux

Are these stakes races with a history tied to the name, or are they musical chairs?
The Rachel Alexandra previously was known as the Silverbulletday Stakes, a name that will now be used for the first event in Fair Grounds’ three-race series for 3-year-old fillies. That race had been known as the Tiffany Lass Stakes.

It's bad enough renaming a stake for a retired horse before their stall has been stripped, but this name shifting is even worse.

I agree. Why eliminate Tiffany Lass's name from the stakes schedule? She won nearly the same races Rachel Alexandra did leading up to and including the Kentucky Oaks while winning 8 of 10 career starts.

Why didn't they just rename the race they made specifically for Rachel Alexandra this year, the New Orleans Ladies Classic, instead?

Probably because she lost the race. Idiots.
