Great to see Julio back in the saddle! Where'd he go all these years? Winning ride aboard Missile Motor at Belmont denying odds-on favorite was classic Julio:)

I've asked myself the same question a bunch of times. Where was he? I remember when he used to ride at Hialeah Park. I think he took off to New York after that, but haven't heard about him in recent years.

One of the best jewels below the radar screen.Incredible gate rider,
and, incredibly strong in the stretch proving he can run with the
likes of J.V. :jump: :jump: :jump:  :jump: :jump:

I always enjoy it when he pilots a hopeless turf longshot to a 15 length lead by the second call...

I assume this is a different Julio Pezua than the one that rode in NY sporadically in the last 20 plus years....or maybe absense makes the heart grow fonder.

i bet the 8 but was much better off with him in the second hole.
After the race the regular experts were screaming how the jock
on the 8 blew the race! How he was totally out ridden by the other
boy. I insisted that he had ridden a fine race and it came down to a bob.
They screamed at me, literally, that i was clueless and he was clearly
an inferior rider. Well to all of our surprise, even mine, the 8 flashes as the
winner. So now i ask if he still got out ridden and was he still an inferior
rider. I pressed my point untill it became apparent that my life might
be in danger.
It never ceases to amaze me how observant and knowledgeable these
experts are. And always quick to offer their expert opinions. Why does it
have to be a riders fault that he lost the race? Why can they not just
accept that there will be a winner and losers, and that it doesn't have
to be a riders "fault".

Once an iceman in the saddle, always an iceman...He's no George Woolf in terms of wins, but Julio can get the job done. Back in the day, I used to hollar in that old Big A paddock "JULIO!!!" and he'd always give a nice acknowledgment with a wave of the stick...

Let's do a "Julio Alert." Anytime Julio has a live mount, somebody keep this thread going with a post about it....at least you can spice up those exotics with what is usually an honest ride on a big longshot....

My favorite Julio race was the 1992 Met Mile. I put a big bet on Dixie Brass. Looking at the field now, there were some great horses behind him that day.
