My friend owns half of a thoroughbred race horse and would like to locate the dam of his horse. Are there any such places/websites that offer that kind of service? I've been to Equibase.com and found the horse, but there is no information about where she is, or who owns her now. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

Best bet would to get in touch with the Jockey Club...they'll have the records, unless for some reason, her changing hands never got recorded.
Good luck and keep us posted, Shelby.
Can you post the horse's name?

Thank you, Joanie. I'll start with the Jockey Club. Good idea.

My friend's horse is named Came Home Late and is at Remington Park right now. She's a pretty great horse (don't pay attention to her last race). They think they are going to try blinkers next time because she looks around a lot and gets distracted. The dam that he's trying to find is named Light of the Moon. She's 15 years old. She's only had two lifetime races (Mike Smith rode her once!!!) both were at Belmont. She was owned by Ogden Phipps and trained by Claude McGaughey. I googled Mr. Phipps http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ogden_Phipps ----very very interesting man! Anyway, since she's not racing any more, I can't find any other information.

Also, in case anyone is interested :) the sire is named Came Home--he's out of Gone West.

Check the link above.
The dam is Light of the Moon ( I came home late under the light of the moon too.:) )

Also http://www.horsesites.com/ has a list of breeders associations and farms that you might inquire at.

Shelby,

Came Home Late's sire is Came Home, who stands at Lane's End. Light of the Moon was bred to Came Home a few years earlier too, so they will have ALL the contact information on the Mare, Light of the Moon.

Also, Light of the Moon was baren in 08, had a dead foal in 2010, only other foal since Came Home Late was in 2009, a colt from "Badge of Silver", so Badge of Silver bred to Light of the Moon in 2008, he stands at Airdires Stud, so they will have contact information for the mare you are looking for too.

The Mare Light of the Moon is surely in Kentucky, thats where the stallions are she keeps breeding too, and Came Home Late was bred in Kentucky...

Here are the stallions/farms she bred too, contact them and they will give you the information on where the Mare is located/contact information on the Mare.

Really???? I'm so glad you know of him!!! I'm excited!!!

My friend got into horses a couple of years ago. This is his second horse. His first is named Blue Print Blue. I think he's 8 or 9 now...not doing so hot, but I still love him! I bet him when the Woodlands at Kansas City was open. I think he either got first or second. Either way, it was exciting to know someone that had a race horse!

I can't wait to watch Came Home Late in person soon at Remington. :)

OH MY GOSH!!! I had no idea we could see this stuff!!!! Thank you SO SO much for showing me all of this. I'm printing it all out to show my friend. He will LOVE seeing this.

He's not a "computer person", so he's kinda out of the loop on most things lol.

I'd give most anything to be able to buy that horse with him!!!!!!! Hmmmm......you've got my mind 'a workin' now......

I'm looking for info on a horse named Extended. Born 2006 out of Swiss Yodeler--

Is she racing? Who owns/trains her?

I googled the name but can't seem to find anything...

(hope I'm not hijacking the thread )

Shelby...
Use this link: http://www.pedigreequery.com/came+home when his pedigree comes up click on the little picture icon at the top...there's a super painting of him...looks just like a photo...he had a gorgeous head, he was not a big horse, but was put together beautifully, and was a hell of a nice race horse...the story behind him is pretty cool too...
his owners, both now, sadly, passed away, were two of the best people in racing...John Toffan and his 'soul mate', Trudy McCaffney...wonderful folks...they had put him in a sale, but he didn't sell, so he 'came home' with them...and the little horse no one wanted went on to win over a million $$ in earnings...
I loved watching him race and my best one was the Santa Anita Derby...yep, he was one of my favorites (it kinda broke my heart that he was sent to stud in Japan)

:) :) :)
