Pew Research Center found that Barack Obama gets his highest approval ratings from people that watch MSNBC's Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow, as well as from readers of the New York Times.

 Among news audiences, Obama gets his highest approval ratings among regular viewers of Keith Olbermann (84% approve) and Rachel Maddow (80%); his rating is nearly as high among regular readers of the New York Times (79%).

I want know the sample size. Let me guess 100, and with a bit of Bootstrap sampling exploded to 100,000.

Now, let me be very clear. As we all know, Rachel Maddow was put upon this Earth to be fruitful and multiply, cuz we know ya can't just have sex with whomever, whenever, and expect the world to just go along with it. So, Rachel is here to breed, y'all. Now, it's gonna happen, folks. Good job, Rachel ... uh, Raitch ... are ya in the heezy ?

Hey, Keith --- buy Rachel a drink, woulja, my brutha ? Tell her she's lovely.

You're making the mistake of thinking those people approve of Obama because of the program they watch or listen to. Instead it's the program they don't watch. They don't watch Fox News. They don't listen to Rush Limbaugh. They are not exposed to the false propaganda, which they wouldn't believe anyway.

When's the last time KO had an opposing view on his show?

Ask yourself next time you sit down with your BigGulp to watch Keithie, without stories whining or ridiculing the opposing view how much substance is in his little ClamBake of a show?

You gotta be braindead to drink in that drivel.

True, Olbermann does not often, if ever, have guests with an opposing point of view on his show. But I have never heard him state any fact which could not be independently verified. Olbermann' show serves as counterpoint to misinformation emanating from Fox and Limbaugh et. al. He tells you what they said, then tells you why it's wrong.
There are many sources for the other viewpoint. There are far fewer for the truth. Olbermann is one.
Rachel Maddow often has guests with an opposing point of view. Frequently she will state on the air that they have contacted a particular person and tried to get that person on the air but were unsuccessful. Some folks would rather just go on Fox where they can slam those hanging curves out of the park.

Pretty safe assumption since most people don't know the man personally and even more people are too lazy, er busy, to sample a broad array of journalism on the subject.

You really don't think that the way news is reported, in this case favorable to the Prez, is correlated to the audience opinion?

They won't believe propoganda but must receive information from somewhere... so they tune to that skank and its more effeminate host with the more pronounced 'stache and amazingly, the approval ratings for that sample is disproportionately high... the smart ones, eh?... gotcha...

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/mark-finkelstein/2008/08/25/olbermann-beginning-sound-borderline-sycophantic
On Lincoln: Olbermann is correct. Lincoln won seven of eight elections in which citizens voted at the polls. He also lost his party's nomination to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1842. At that time nominations were not by popular election, they were by party nominating convention. Likewise when Lincoln lost the nomination for Vice President in 1856 it was at the Republican party national convention. Surely you know that in the 1850's and long after Senators were elected not by popular vote but by the legislature of the state.
So, in what we think of as elections today, Lincoln was indeed seven of eight. Newsbusters uses an esoteric version of elections to try to discredit Olbermann.

On Palin: Despite what was written in Newsbusters, Olbermann did not say Palin slashed $275,000 from the Alaskan budget for Special Olympics. He said she vetoed it. This was not a budget proposal. It was in the budget as passed by the Alaskan legislature. Special Olympics would have had $550,000 except for Palin's veto. They ended up with $275,000. Difference? $275,000
More later

Here is the difference between MSNBC and Fox. Honesty!!! MSNBC admits to being biased. Fox paints itself as "Fair and Balanced."

Baltimore Sun: An anti Olbermann website quotes an anti Olbermann TV critic. Who cares?

Quisling: Special Comment is an opinion piece. It is Olbermann's opinion that being a lawyer for corporate interests is equivalent to being a nazi collaborator. His opinion.

For Boxcar's edification, since he apparently has trouble concentrating across more than one reply. (I've added numbers to simplify things further)
Items 3, 4, 5,6 , and 8 express disagreement with Olbermann opinions. I agree with what they say in 4, disagree on the others
Items 1 and 2 accuse Olbermann of distorting the facts. I showed quite clearly that he did not.
I will now address item 7
Keith Olbermann Revises History to Praise Clinton and Bash Gingrich.

Olbermann said:

The balanced budget amendment, also pushed by then Speaker Newt Gingrich as part of the 1994 Contract With America, would prevent the federal government from spending more than it takes in. But, and there is the rub, it also has a clause barring any tax increases without a two-thirds vote in each chamber of Congress. Gingrich failed to pass it, President Clinton raised taxes, balanced the budget, created 22 million jobs.Newsbusters reply:

Well, first of all, Clinton's tax hikes were part of the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993. Gingrich didn't become Speaker until January 1995
Nowhere does Olbermann claim Gingrich failed to pass the Contract with America before Clinton raised taxes. Only that he failed to pass it.

Then there was this from Newsbusters.

But it gets worse, for what Olbermann conveniently omitted - like so many media members are currently doing to misinform the public about the difference between Republican and Democrat tax policies - was that Gingrich and the Republican Congress forced Clinton to sign the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 which cut taxes.

This was when the economy really took off as the GDP grew by 4.4 percent in 1997, 4.5 percent in 1998, 4.8 percent in 1999, and 4.1 percent in 2000. During this period, employers added over 12 million workers to their payrolls.
To begin with Gingrich and the Republican Congress did not force Clinton to sign anything. Clinton got middle class tax cuts. (The earned Income Credit was increased.) He got continued funding of health and education. He was able to minimize cuts in Medicare and Medicaid. Capital gains taxes were reduced.
The figures given for the increase in GDP are correct. Over twelve million jobs were added. But that is not much different than for a similar period prior to passageof the tax cuts. Also it is difficult to judge how much of the improvement was attributable to the tax cuts and how much to other factors. i.e. the dot com bubble.

Edification: the process of edifying.
Edify from Merriam Websters online:
: to instruct and improve especially in moral and religious knowledge : uplift; also : enlighten, inform
Used here in the sense of to instruct Boxcar in the fallacies of the links posted by bigmack; to improve Boxcars realization of the superiority of progressive thought; To uplift Boxcar from the dark, depths of conservatism; to enlighten Boxcar regarding the intellect and integrity of MSNBC in general, and Keith Olbermann specifically; to inform Boxcar that, once again, he is wrong.
