Okay, this clown will keep his job with Universal Press Syndicate regardless, but doesn't Glenn Beck have a defamation case against him based on today's cartoon:

Badly drawn Martin King to badly drawn Abraham Lincoln, both sitting in the clouds:

"What does that idiot Glenn Beck think he's doing down there ?"

Lincoln: "Why, he's stirring things up in the name of God and Jesus [sic] and you, and hoping to find a Booth or a James Earl Ray."

Not only is this an outrage againt Beck; it demeans the aforementioned "gods" themselves.

I meant to add that through the "threat" [ ... do better, Paddy] of assassination, the Divider-in-Chief is equated with the "gods," also. Astounding.

Oh, well ... Aussie trash is still trash, I guess.

There is often irony in satire that may pass some people right by.

"it is fair to say that, in general, a plaintiff suing for defamation in relation to satirical speech faces at least two formidable difficulties: arguing that the speech is defamatory; and resisting the defense of fair comment. "

"But where a publication contains satirical comment on matters of public interest, courts should be slow to conclude that the publication contains defamatory allegations that will result in the plaintiff’s reputation being lowered in the minds of reasonable members of society."

Glenn Beck is a public figure. It takes a lot more to defame a public figure. In any case it seems that Oliphant is just expressing an opinion-an accurate opinion- that Beck is a tool who is using religion to cause trouble.

This just shows what a scum bag sewer dweller this moron is.
Enjoy the fact that the weakest of minds will find it funny and have to empty their drool cups twice today.

But if Allen's little cousin Ollie Funt claims that it's really Martin King's ghost speaking from King's own heart, then King himself is being defamed. Granted, that is less outrageous than the charge of suborning murder, but satirical ?

This crap is serious. This used to be illegal.

What is astounding is that you somehow come up with the idea that the threat of assassination equates Obama with the "gods". You are totally clueless and all your verbal highjinks can not disguise that fact.

Oh, well ... Aussie trash is still trash, I guess.
Ah yes, we have here an Aussie, a member of an inferior species, akin to a Mexican or an Arab, a person of limited intelligence and poor moral character. Someone who should not be allowed to comment on the affairs of his betters.
Your jingoism is showing. :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

I really wonder how Lincoln and MLK would have taken being lectured on God by a Morman.

Don't go postal now but I believe you meant xenophobe. Jingo is a whole nuther thang. In any event, you missed yet another point.

You got your trailer trash, Euro trash, Aussie trash, North Riverside trash. You get it? Trash is trash.

Beck is a tool who is using religion to cause trouble.

And Paddy O. is only too happy to embrace the trouble. Suborning and/or facilitating murder, however, is not just causing trouble --- not even when it's committed by some such genius of the left as, say, Ernesto Guevara. This is not some puny black musical genius averring that George Bush doesn't like black people. This is putting hateful, hopeless words into the mouth of Saint Marty himself [no matter how "accurate" the imputed opinion], which should be blasphemy to the left; to accuse Beck of such crimes --- not "inaccurate opinions," mind you --- is staggeringly bad form, even for the pink-shades-wearing zealots of the left.

Jingoism is defined in the Oxford English Dictionary as "extreme patriotism in the form of aggressive foreign policy". Since toetoe does not execute foreign policy, xenophobe is the better word. I sit corrected.

Pretty much the way the Left does when they think the bible supports their policy or agenda, e.g. immigration (the most recent example in the House), redistribution of wealth (socialism), etc. But the difference between Beck and you hypocritical lefties is that Beck actually has a core religious belief system. He believes in something other than Man.

Leave that lesson book out, just one more thing. Who in their right mind would equate his innocuous comment with, how did you put it, "a member of an inferior species, akin to a Mexican or an Arab, a person of limited intelligence and poor moral character"?

Inferior species? Just what species are Arabs, Mexicans & Aussies?

Always a joy to see someone of your affiliation run amok with policin' thoughts, particularly when they're so amiss.

Beck believes in the American dollar. The jury is still out on his belief in gold.

it is not actionable, but it's in bad taste. If that were a crime Madonna would be doing life

This is a prime example of the thread I started about Gore the other day and I got pissed on immediately

BoxcarDo you agree with Beck's religious beliefs or are you standing up for him because he shares some of his political beliefs. When I was a kid I was taught that Joesph Smith was either a charlatan or an agent of the devil or both. I have not seen a reason to doubt those teachings? How do you feel about Mormons. Christians or false prophets?

You didn't ask me, but I'll say this --- I can take Beck or leave him, and I admire Mormons in inverse proportion to the degree of their slavish adherence to the hard core of their doctrine. Hey, wait a minute --- that's how I regard Christians, Zoroastrians, Mohammedans, well ... everybody ( ).

The point is that Swishy Pink Oliphant did not say, "Sometimes I just wanna throttle Glenn Beck," or "Beck rubs me so wrong, I'm not responsible for my actions." No, he used the left's squeaky-clean gods --- and which non-hater/non-racist doesn't genuflect at the mention of Marty and Abie ? Bobby K. is another darling --- as a buffer for his cowardly, badly drawn screed. You southpaws, probably knowing less about Marty and Abie than I, accept the putting of those words into those sacred mouths ? (:Shaking head.)
