I can't wait to hear what the commander-in-chief has to say. will he say that he was wrong and the surge worked? will he credit George Bush? will it be a victory lap for a guy who desperately needs something to go right, so why not look good when the timetable Bush signed on to has reached its endpoint.

Great job commander!

Apparently Iraqi's aren't so enamored with the savior either. According to Gallup (http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/71957), more Iraqis approved of American leadership under Bush (the person who invaded their country and sacked their leader) than under Obama (Nobel award winning apologizer for all things American).

:ThmbUp:Way to go Odumbo! Not even Iraqis respect your leadship.

Meanwhile, in Obama's war, the war that he said we must fight and win;

Afghanistan bomb attacks kill twenty-one US soldiers in 48 hours (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/afghanistan/7972863/Afghanistan-bomb-attacks-kill-twenty-one-US-soldiers-in-48-hours.html)

Twenty-one American troops have been killed in Afghanistan since Friday in one of the bloodiest periods of the summer.

Of course between fundraisers, vacations, and golfing he might not even be aware of what is going on in Afghanistan.

Great job on Iraq??? The jury is out on that call.
The "Democracy" ain't working. The coalition can't agree on anything.
50,000 troops still remain.
Insurgents are flexing their muscles daily right in Baghdad.
They haven't set a timeline for withdrawal.

Most Iraqi's are lucky if the get 3 hours of electricity a day. Some get up to 9 hours. Many get none. That's not what was promised.
You are in the dark too.

Tell these people it meant nothing? Do you think they stand in line half a day to vote because it means nothing?

Yep.......so many think that way that the Daily Kos has a new poll out that shows :

"We'll start rolling out our Ohio poll results tomorrow but there's one finding on the poll that pretty much sums it up: by a 50-42 margin voters there say they'd rather have George W. Bush in the White House right now than Barack Obama.

Independents hold that view by a 44-37 margin and there are more Democrats who would take Bush back (11%) than there are Republicans who think Obama's preferable (3%.)"

Canadian Bacon is smarter than you

***This poll from Ohio is a staggering turnabout. If it was the other way around, it would the lead on every MSNBC show tonight

Lip Service is all I ever get from you.

What a weak effort. He has absolutely no interest in being Commander-in-Chief; only wants to be Social Engineer-in-Chief. It looked to me more like yet another campaign plea to let's all work together so he can have his way, than an expression of gratitude for the troops' service and a vision for the way forward.

Even AP-Obama is getting sick of the flow of BS, and doing some fact checking of dear leaders address (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38944565/ns/politics-white_house/).

excerpt:

OBAMA:"Unfortunately, over the last decade, we have not done what is necessary to shore up the foundation of our own prosperity. We have spent over a trillion dollars at war, often financed by borrowing from overseas. This, in turn, has shortchanged investments in our own people, and contributed to record deficits."

THE FACTS: This is partly true. For sure, the costly Iraq and Afghanistan wars have contributed to the nation's budget deficit — but not by as much as Obama suggests. The current annual deficit is now an estimated $1.5 trillion. But as recently as 2007, the budget deficit was just $161.5 billion. And that was years after war expenses were in place for both the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts.

Most of the current deficit is due to the longest recession since the 1930s. It has seriously depressed tax revenues while increasing costs to the government — including social safety-net programs such as unemployment insurance and spending by both the outgoing Bush and incoming Obama administrations on stimulus programs and on bailouts of banks and automakers.

Didn't the Prez just say that U.S. Combat in Iraq is over?

Not according to this morning's headlines.

Combat mission continues as U.S.-Iraqi raid kills 7 in Fallujah

FALLUJAH, Iraq — U.S. and Iraqi forces raided a neighborhood in the longtime Sunni Muslim insurgent stronghold of Fallujah early Wednesday, Iraqi officials said, killing seven people in the deadliest joint operation since President Barack Obama announced the end of the American combat mission in Iraq two weeks ago.

The incident underscored how American forces remain engaged in offensive operations despite Obama's declaration that the fewer than 50,000 remaining U.S. troops would focus on advising and training the Iraqi military and police.

Iraqi police officials said that the raid, which also wounded three people, began when the U.S.-Iraqi team set off explosives around 1:30 a.m. in the Jubail neighborhood of Fallujah, about 40 miles west of Baghdad. American military helicopters supported the joint operation, according to residents

Rumors were spread about Abraham Lincoln being Catholic and about FDR being Jewish.

This seems like it would be an effective tactic by the opposition. It doesn't matter whether they are true or false -- it solidifies the base of the party spreading the rumors.

Ironically, it also solidifies the base of the party in office. So maybe it's not all that effective?

It's a probably a wash, votewise.

Gotta luv American politics!
