Also, how can anyone in USA racing talk about integrity, when you have trainers with multiple Drug Violations still doing business as usual and information on the use of Tongue ties not being declared .

Charlie, in my book the article is about the corruption behind the deal. That's why I used that particular excerpt. We all know that there is going to be cheating under any system.

Provided you actually had clue one,

you would know that Betfair is already facilitating tremendous corruption on US racing.

Really believe someone is fixing US races and not getting down on Betfair?

It is ludicrous.

It is not so much that there is corruption in every system it is that the criminals ARE ALREADY ON BETFAIR.

So, let me get this straight, they're saying that there are people out there who are snow white honest and who have never fixed a race before and now, because of exchange wagering, they're going to start fixing races?

If there is questionable betting on a matchup, Betfair just won't pay off the winners, they've done that before.

This is the same argument that college sports has with not wanting vegas to take wagers on their sport. They say vegas leads to corruption in college sports. Vegas is, if anything, a watchdog for irregular betting patterns. Without Vegas, the fix would be much easier to pull off, you can just get down with some large bookies across the country. Betfair will weed out the criminals.

Look at it this way. There's not an unlimited supplie of people in the racing industry, and if there is fixing because of Betfair, than those people will quickly be caught and exposed.

Hi Jeff...because the Senate refused to grant us a hearing on the Speaker's AB 2414, a decision was made over the weekend to instead utilize a Senate bill (SB 1072) that is in the Assembly to incorporate the current contents on AB 2414. That bill will be heard today in the Assembly GO and Appropriations Committee. Additionally, the exchange wagering authorization is going to be delayed until May 2012. That, and some other minor changes appears to have prompted Magna going neutral on the bill (still trying to confirm this). Please give me a call if you have any other questions...George Wiley
