How do you handicap a 1/8 mile race? (I can't wait until the 9:4 second record is broken!)

Indiana Downs - 8/14/2010
R2 - 3/16M
R3 - 5/8M
R5 - 1/8M
R6 - 1-5/8M
R7,8 - 1-1/8M

It is similar to quarter horse racing. But the problem is that you have no database (program) of previous races. Viewing video replays in quarterhorse racing is essential. You need to know who can break out the gate the best and who has the best early kick. I like those videos with the split screen so you can see the head on shot and see which ones tend to bare out or in and those that run mostly in a straight line.

Harness racing using a 1/8 mile dash is totally insane. Especially when there are no previous lines nor statistics available. I would not wager much in those races. One thing is certain, the classification of the horses means less as the distance of the race decreases. A cheap claimer is just as fast as the Invitational when the race is short enough.
