Union leader calls on L.A. teachers to boycott Times
A.J. Duffy objects to the paper's analysis of the effectiveness of more than 6,000 elementary school teachers.

See the link......... very interesting. The paper is going to develop a rating on all elementary teachers and publish a running tally.....

They have already done some serious analysis

Does anybody keep a running tally of your performance at work? Yearly reviews etc? Guess teachers shouldn't have to go through that......... Public funds make this possible I am sure........if it wasn't publicly funded they couldn't get the info

I've got more KPI's than hairs on my head, and no defined benefit pension. with BO in charge why would any public "servant" agree to being measured - just send the checks BO, and the lifetime benefits.

it's a super sore subject around my parts, teachers fill a critical role, but that doesn't mean common sense performance appraisals shouldn't be a regular part of their deal.....just like us non-pensioned working slobs (who work in an "employment at will state', which means we can be canned at any time for NO REASON, without recourse).

That is what too many of the kids coming out of schools are.
That is in large part due to teachers.
