I have done some looking into my family tree. It is mostly British with German and Dutch thrown in for good measure. Fortunately I have not found any Irish yet (just kidding). So yes, I am a mongrel. I don't think you find very many pure bloods in this country, but you don't have look very far to find someone who claims to be one.

Mike They may have the same skin color, but they have been separate "tribes" since before recorded history. They most certainly have several different genetic traits. That being said, We are all human beings and in the end that is all that matters.

Good one Robert, Both statements are very true.
My own kids are a simple illustration of todays' morph: Irish/French/Polish/Lithuanian and from Canada-U.S. In Toronto, there is an astonishing and ever increasing crossover of race, culture and ethnicity. Every combo possible is seen and new are ones are born every year.

I was always amazed to learn that Jews and Arabs descend, at least in some part from the same race- Sephardic. Like Cain & Abel on steroids.

However, given it's etymology, I don't think I would have used that word. Certainly, Obama throws some change-ups on words. It's probably true that he uses his mixed black race as camouflage to use them. While he's using that term to provide a simple explanation of Robert's fact of mix in the common man- virtually everywhere, it's not a good word historically.
