The weather should be good and it looks like a very good field. I've been to 7 of the last 10 runnings...always a great time. Anyone else going to be there?

http://i27.tinypic.com/30j5lyh.jpg I think there will be a couple of people there.

Weather is cooling off signfiicantly over the weekend.

Should the localized boomer not develop,
expecting all the turf races to remain on the grass all weekend long. (again).

With a nice cool day in the forecast the crowd will be huge. This is the first year that there is a lot of advertisements for the Haskell on both TV and radio.

Yep. This is it.
Looks like the all-time Haskell Day handle mark http://i30.tinypic.com/jql2rp.gif could be shattered on Sunday.

Rolling Doubles and three 15% Pick 4's on tap.
This year's Haskell hat giveaway is a richly colored red. One of the better ones I've seen for giveaway days.

I may be there. It's a long drive for me, but I haven't been to Monmouth in a long time and would like to go again.

Make sure to give yourself an extra 30 minutes of stop-and-go traffic
from the Parkway to the Parking Lot gate if you're coming off Exit 105
and onto Route 36.

I try to stay off Route 36 by getting off at 109
and take a nifty shortcut that I have learned.
Visitors may want to do a study of GoogleMaps before you embarking
on the voyage.

Monmouth has improved but still lots left to be desired.

No rolling pick 3's.

No twight today I guess they are scared that Saratoga is 230 start today.

Mlillion in purses per day yet today't total is 438,000 or 36,500 per race.

Nice big fields as they enter about 120 per day.
However, 20 are scratched per day and Monmouth posts scratches way too late for me.

At least they sent me a $25 voucher (to be used only this Sunday) for being a loyal customer.

Over under for getting your car if you are silly to park valet on Haskell Day is 80 minutes.

This visual might help those coming from the north
to cut their travel time in half from the Parkway to Gate.

It is self-explanatory but the key road here is Oceanport Avenue.
Get to it and it leads to the parking lot.

In order to get to Oceanport Avenue, one must make a right turn
on to the active Route 35 south, and making a left turn at White Rd
or a left at Sycamore Avenue.

Then make a right onto Oceanport Avenue and you'll be at the
gates shortly after Fort Monmouth military base and the Main Street traffic light.

Thanks for the tip.

I'm fortunate to live close enough so I don't have to deal w/GSP anymore, but I used to have to do it and always used exit 109, so I endorse the tip. It is really easy- White Rd is the first light after turning onto 35 south and Sycamore is I think the 4th light (not including the blinking orange at the firehouse)

I prefer Sycamore Avenue (A white painted church is on the corner).
Make a left there.

If you miss the left turn on White Rd. or Sycamore Avenue.
You have missed the opportunity to avoid the congestion ahead.
So be careful while driving south on 35.

Once over the railroad tracks and a right turn onto Oceanport Avenue,
the Little Silver Shops has Luigi's Pizza/Ristorante is a nice place
to grab lunch on your left side. Then comes a Mercedes Benz dealership
and a few small bridges, then the gates to Fort Monmouth military base.

Then comes the Main Street traffic light and at the very end you'll see
the white picket fences of the parking lot.
Congratulations. You have arrived for a fun afternoon.

Picked up my hat today...while it looks nice, I thought it felt a little flimsy. At least the price was right!

Haskell Bound?

The Guv maybe there !

Reportedly, Christie will show up at the Haskell. New Jersey governors usually do, and that's because it's a big deal that everyone in the state can be proud of. It's bigger than ever this year. The Kentucky Derby and Preakness winners are squaring off as the headliners in a deep and talented field. With such a good race and with Monmouth having such a good meet with the huge purses, it's a solid bet that records will be set when it comes to wagering. With that as the backdrop, Christie might be asked to explain why he seems so unwilling to help something that is so special.

Sunny and 80 for the high on Sunday.
Tough to call the attendance since NJ folks do their wagering from home/OTW's.

http://i26.tinypic.com/2djxs04.gif The meet high so far is: 24,262 on Father's Day.
Guessing the family guys may be back for an encore.

I was going but I have this stupid sinus infection and the doc told me to stay away from crowds.

May be the most competiive Haskell since Curlin, Hard Spun, and the winner - Any Given Saturday - met in 2007. Certainly, this field appears to be much deeper.

40% chance of scattered showers by post time.
Be ironic if it rains right after Haskell as this year's post time
is 30 minutes earlier than last few editions.

I'll guess 43,411 in attendance with a handle of 20.1M.
Kind of hard to guess ontrack handle as most go to Haskell cause it't the in thing to do and they want to show off their hats and forget to bet.

I would be surprised to see a handle ontrack of 3.5M

I'll be in seat 94 in 1st floor clubhouse tletetheartre where I am every day.
Come say hi!
