Armed with subpoena power, Issa said, his checks on government excesses will have the teeth to achieve the balance stipulated in the Constitution.

Under absolute Democratic rule, Issa told me, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has declared a virtual freeze on probes of the Obama administration. The White House is a no-fly zone for oversight.

Yes, perhaps, but I think it's great press. If they can get the word out and convince the population they'll loose the hounds, then it will help them win.

Heard Michelle Bachmann the other day talking about how the subpoena's will be flying come next year.
