Pentagon workers tied to child porn

Security agencies were left at risk, investigators say

WASHINGTON — Federal investigators have identified several dozen Pentagon officials and contractors with high-level security clearances who allegedly purchased and downloaded child pornography, including an undisclosed number who used their government computers to obtain the illegal material, according to investigative reports.

Be careful who you trust with the power to incarcerate and impoverish you!

Can't wait to hear the spin on this one, most notably under whose administration these people were appointed. I'm sure MSNBC is currently scurrying around to see who was appointed during the Bush administration and ignoring those who were either Clinton or Obama additions.

Who they were appointed by, and when they were appointed, should have ZERO influence in such a serious situation.

But you're right. The small minded acolytes of the political conflict binary will focus on exactly that!

Yeah, this is getting a little play in the media. And what I love is that the leeches who haven't resigned are being threatened with a "recall".

This has nothing to do with government. It has to do with people. Anyone who views, sells or produces Child Pornography should be subject to the full penalties of the law. But to say that somehow this is a failing of government is as stupid as it would be to condemn GM if some GM employees were arrested for the same thing.
It does not matter which administration appointed or hired them. It would matter if an administration knew about it and did nothing, but there is no indication of that.

Bad analogy, as usual. The fundamental difference between GM and Big Gov is that WE the PEOPLE pay the salaries of government employees. In essence, that kind of makes US their boss. If there's something you don't understand about this, give me a shout.

Heads should roll on this and lots of people fired, including management personnel who permitted this to happen on their watch. We're not paying management with our tax dollars to be negligent in their duties or paying their subordinates to watch kiddie porn -- or any kind of porn for that matter.

It's true. Take for example the number of postal workers that went berserk. Sure there were scores of them and many specOooolated it was a result of the workplace environment, but to have come away from those many, many, many incidents and have the general public coin a phrase like "Going Postal" now that was unwarranted.

If this was done on government computers, then YES, GOVERNMENT IS TO BLAME. I worked my entire career in IT and every company I worked for had these policies and enforced them rigorously. It's fairly simple to filter content these days and our wonderful government can't even get that right. But then again when you have 2,000+ page bills that aren't even read by the lawmakers wishing to impose them on us, the bar isn't set very high.
