I'm a Civil War buff. I live in MD so I'm pretty much in and around what would be considered the epicenter of the Civil War. There are tons of opportunities around this area for someone who is interested in learning more about the war and studying it's history. If you're into studying the history of the Civil War and you spend a ton of time researching on your own it's very surprising what you find out. There are a ton of interesting facts which contradict some of what we were taught in school.

This article is very interesting. There were a number of blacks that fought for the Confederacy. When I first learned about this I was surprised so I researched why.

Anyway, the Civil War is very interesting once you start researching it and learning more about it. You even have to learn a lot about how life was during that time to fully understand everything about the war.

All that said it was a very sad time in our history and so many U.S. lives were lost.
