Need a new laptop. Probably getting a Dell Studio 15. Anyone have any suggestions on screen resolutions between the 720, 900, or 1080P?

I have a Sony with an 1080 LCD and Blu-ray player. Nice but the rendering of the smaller fonts can be too small for these tired eyes.

I have a Dell Studio 15 w/ 1366 x 768 display, but I never use the laptop screen. It looks fine to me though. I use external 24" @ 1920 x 1080, the ATI HD 4570 handles that just fine.

I am going to be getting a new Dell laptop -- will run it mostly on an external monitor using the new Photoshop heavily. I assume I'll get win7 64-bit.

(It has to be a Dell because it is being purchased for me by a guy that works at Dell -- I need to pick out a model.)

Well, sure, if I hook it up to my HDTV via HDMI, it looks great.

Never used it for anything other than internet and video, has the lower end T6600 processor, so not the best comparison to what you'd want for photoshop. But no complaints about it as a unit, stuffed properly it'd probably be fine.

just saying that he might want to upgrade the graphics if he wants to go external, the base integrated graphics are pretty wimpy. But the 720p resolution is just about right on 15" I think, no need to upgrade the screen.

After taking another look, side by side, I think I like the 17" screen with 900p. Probably 98% of the time I'm just using at home in my lounge chair anyway.
