I started a daily blog about handicapping horses in So.Ca. I started to post my bets with a Bank of $500. After 21 days of playing Hollywood the bank grew to $5900 ....... I luck out on backing into a Pick three Saturday in the 5th when I posted on my blog to hit the all button.

I have a company that puts a Ad on my site and they track and count the people who come on my site. Today as I was checking out who was hitting my site....... The Social Service Administration hit my site and stayed there for some time. I pay my taxes and I'm not a person who thinks Big brother is around every corner....... but if a agent is checking my site for bets maybe he or she might do that not on our dime. And maybe the SSA is checking on betting sites......... So what do you guys think about the SSA checking up or spying on blogs and betting sites.... It seems to me to be a waste of Taxpayers time..

I wouldn't worry about it.

Workers, regardless of where they work, are known to do a little web surfing. The SSA is not the IRS. :)

I'm thinking it would be someone who likes the horsies, and likes your picks. Maybe they're on lunch break.

It depends a lot on the lockdown on web surfing. My friend's husband is with the FBI, and he could *never* use his official computer to do anything but official business. OTOH, there are plenty of govt employees, as well as corporate employees, who are allowed to use their computers to order christmas gifts, etc. on their own time. The IT department locks down sites that are not okay...and policies vary from dept. to dept. Having been in that job, I know that we can also track how, when, and where our employees have been on the internet. :)

My comment to you is the same as anyone on this board. As long as you are fully reporting all your wagering income you really don't have anything to worry about. Selective reporting or claiming you have net losses for the year on your returns but claiming contrary on the internet is not advisable. I can almost guarantee you that there are people from the IRS who look at this site and its a completely open forum, you do not have to sign in to read.

Its funny in a way because the Internal Revenue Service may be the only one capable of knowing who on this board is totally full of shit and who really is winning.

It is quite possible that the SSA person plays horses.

I know Gov. employee's personally who day-trade (not P.A.) whilst on YOUR and MY dime...ie...paying his Gov. salary.

Why do you not think besides porn as well...that some of them...might LIKE a LITTLE ACTION on the ponies or poker...ect.

How do you figure, since real names, for the most part, are not used here.

I was commenting more general terms such as real life not the internet. But it is important to remember that there is not quite the level of anonymity on the internet that many think there is. When people post on the internet you leave a trail that can be pieced together either using corroborating information in various posts here and elsewhere (and a lot can be found out just that way) or if need be with supporting detailed IP addresses for post/e-mail documentation and while the later may require a request to you from whatever Federal entity wants it, if they ask, you have to fork over the info. Its just like you should never write in a PM or e-mail something you don't want something you don't want others to read because they are all retreivable by others if need be.

Now in Surfdogs case it is most likely someone working at Social Security who likes the horses but the point is, if you are going to post something online that has potential tax (or legal) repercussions, you need to realize that you could be opening yourself up to unwanted attention potentially far worse than just pussies behind a keyboard attempting to be more macho.

Theresa, you just took a serious hit, and you wrote it yourself. Not a soul helped you.

You can insult me all you want. Or attempt to. I dont care how proud you are of yourself, or what you believe you've achieved--at this point, you're reading like TRASH, lady.

Good job. Between this and your comments about the "boyz" I believe you've just set the bar for classlessness. Considering some of the people who have posted here, that's saying something.

This lady is an exercise rider I believe. In any case she speaks the absolute truth:
Kim Laudati (http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1312014011) is so tired of ignorant people. There is never an excuse to be rude, it only shows how little a person has evolved. That bad karma is going to come back, rest assured. I don't know WHY people think it's cool to be so negative - get over yourself. It takes true character to keep smiling

quick kim laudati story. she worked for gary contessa at monmouth many years ago. if you know gary, he can have his moments. kim decided to verbally challenge him publicly one morning. gary's reply was something to the effect,"kim, if i tell you to go over to that corner, stand on your head and spit wooden nickles that's what you'll do. understood ?".

end of that conversation ! kim got plenty of material to formulate an opinion on rudeness while laboring for contessa.
