Thanks to all. First let me say though that I haven't made the donation yet. I will be going back up in October and will do so then though.

As for Ovid, it got quite interesting. Am reading part of the Perseus myth now, end book 4, beginning book 5. It's a little different than "Clash of the Titans" if you are familiar with that one.

Am working on a wrap up piece right now. Hopefully it will turn out more like the Preakness one and less like the Belmont one, which hit the trash heap as it stunk worse than the race did.....

For all of you that went there, did we go to the wrong meet? I know every race wasn't a grade 1 with 14 horses entered, but I'm really at a loss to know where better racing was happening this summer. It sure wasn't Del Mar. Monmouth had nice fields but they weren't very often what I'd call high end. Or perhaps these are the rantings of a bitter old man who used to be a good writer?

Yeah, I don't like the guy....

Moran has been sour for a few years now

But he does make some points I agree with. There were some pretty bad cards.

But I also agree there may be no better place to spend a racing day

All racing has problems now and Saratoga isn't going to provide a miracle cure. However, it was still the top meet in the country by a long shot, and that is even with Monmouth giving away money it won't have in the future.

Patience is all that is needed. Many tracks will fall, and Saratoga will benefit.

it goes back to darwin, survival of the fittest. sad fact of nature but the tracks, horsemen, breeding operations etc. that do survive will be better off.
