I don't play East Coast Tracks however, I do place a bet once in while.
But the West Coast is a different matter.
Lets use Hollywood Park for example, they start at 1:00 pm, I feel that is too late for the older people to start. I feel the ideal time is 10:00 am, this would be good for trainers, owners, and players who play everyday.
So we will say 10:00 am for the West Coast, what time (you) the player or trainer would like, how does one feel about East Coast Time to start the races.
Please post what time your major track you use, play, work at , etc to start the races.

I rarely play the West Coast tracks due to synthetics, small fields, and I hate getting the saddlecloth numbers late. Why don't they get their information up sooner so people on CST and EST can do their handicapping? They hate money or something?
I am on CST here. When they played on dirt, I preferred the West Coast races because it gave me more time to handicap the races; especially if I got home late from work on Friday.

Good question.
I follow a variety of tracks sooo...
East Coast 1:00 pm / 10:00 am PT
California: 5:30 pm ET / 2:30 PT
I have no problem with the night time tracks starting times,
but I'd like each card to be finished by 10:30 pm ET.

I just came back from a week in the Caribbean at St. Barts, which is a French territory. There is one PMU branch on the island which shows the races from France. Since St. Barts is six hours behind, the first race was going off at 5:55 am (funny thing is that the PMU didn't open up until 6:30 am). They would run the entire day's card...and it wasn't even lunch time yet at the end. That would be ideal for me, betting before I go to work. Unrealistic, but ideal.
Other than that, the scheduling of the races will always keep the average clientèle 65+ and gray. Bottom line is that the two biggest tracks in North America, NYRA and So. Cal, run when everyone below 65 years of age is at work. I think an ideal time to go see live racing at a local track is around 4-5 pm and 1 pm on the weekends.

Evenings.
Yes, daytime racing is nice, but first post after dinner should be looked at as an experiment just to see if more people will attend.
Of course several facilities would have to install lights.
Boutique meets(Kee) and those such as Saratoga and Del Mar should remain daytime. 1 pm is the perfect first post time.

2pm.
When you are up till 5am handicapping, you like to sleep till 11 or 12. its hard to get up and make a 12:30 post time.

I have been down there at 6:00 am and left at 8:30 am, however, I really don't know, maybe some one out there can say

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the track closes for training much too late for a 10am post to work as part of a regular schedule.
The later the better for me.
Me too! I'm usually still up handicapping at 6am!

Starting time is irrelevant to me.
Perhaps the tracks could hire a high school student to stagger the postimes when tracks are running at the same time. These highly educated people running the tracks now cant figure out how to do that.
That is what is relevant to me.
