Two of the three remaining bidders for the Aqueduct casino project have been disqualified, leaving a Malaysian-based company as the sole bidder left in the running.

But Genting New York is still not guaranteed the rights to the Aqueduct casino, which has been delayed by a remarkable array of legal and political twists since the Legislature first approving the gambling facility nine years ago.

See is believing with NY racing and slots. But getting rid of Penn National was a good move. You don't want them anyplace near a race track.

You are right about Penn National they are not in horse racing's corner at all.

It's slots and more slots, and the hell with racing.

Looks to me like SL Green's intention was to be disqualfied.

This scenerio gets more astounding by the week...is their anyone involved that is semi competent. In all the other states they were willing and able to make steps to get the slots (for good or bad)...this debacle in New York is just unbelievable.

No chance in hell Genting gets the bid and actually opens a casino at Aqu. NYRA is F'ed. The Shinnecocks will have their full scale casino up and running at Nassau colesium before the first quarter is dropped in a slot at the Big A.

NYRA's only hope of survival is Andrew Cuomo, but he doesn't seem to have a big interest in gambling either.

now, nothing will happen wiht Aqueduct until there is a leadership change and a change in the political mentality in Albany.
I believe the main reason why this thing has dragged on for so long is that every politician that has a need for a some pet project in their district, every politician that has a friend or a major contributor in any business related to the construction and/or operation of an Aqudect casino has their hand stuck out wanting their palm greased.
