This may be pretty basic, but I have a question about the July 5 Hollywood Juvenile. The :6: , J P's Gusto, won the Willard Proctor Memorial with a whopping 92 Beyer. Some 13+ lengths behind him in that race, was the :7: Edgewick Road, who earned a 51 Beyer. Am I right in saying that each length beaten is worth about 3 points on the Beyer scale? Seems a little much to me.

Sounds right by the chart. It is because of the short distance of the race.

A bit of an exaggeration here, but if you race 100 meters against Usain Bolt and lose 3 seconds, you are an average guy. If you race 1500 meters against Olympic champion Asbel Kiprop and lose by three seconds, you are world class.

Thanks, that makes sense.
