Ramon Dominguez batted .500 today. The country’s leading rider rode 4 winners from 8 mounts at Belmont Park. Will he be the hot rider at Saratoga?

There is a Ramon Dominguez who rides at Ajax Downs. He had a win, a second and a third yesterday.

He was leading rider last year, so this isn't exactly going out on a limb.

Yeah the great Ramon Dominguez, the one who managed to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory in the 8th today w/ his overconfident ride of the much the best horse in the race, yeah he is great.

What? Are you talking about his ride where he nearly caught a completely isolated leader and missed by a nostril? Should he have taken his one-run closer and moved with four furlongs to go, effectively ruining his chances?

There was nothing wrong with that ride.

Watch the race again.

However, did you see his ride in the 1st? Nothing special really, but totally outrode the rest of the jocks in the race.

Ramon Dominguez is one superb Jockey! Heck, I believed that he should have won the Eclipse Award for Best Jockey last year over J. Leparoux and Go Go. Although I can't readily pull up the stats, didn't he post more wins for a single racing season than anyone in the history of the NYRA this past year? Now that is one hell of an accomplishment.

Sure i saw the 1st,unlike the 8th, where he gave the best horse an overconfident and lazy ride, in the 1st, again riding the best horse he rode aggressively and won, i bet on him both races.

Try betting Ramon Dominguez when he is not riding the 1st or 2nd betting favorite and you will loose a ton of money.

I should have known your whine was because you needed the 6/5 favorite in the 8th. At least you were objective.

I assume this is an opinion, so just curious what are you basing it on. You might be right, but do you have anything to back it up?

If you don't like the way he rides, don't bet on him. The great thing about horse racing is that you get to put your mouth is. You get find out very quickly what your opinion is worth. (After the month I have had, mine is not worth very much these days.) ;)

I can't specifically say I do or don't bet on him as it varies from race to race. But I will tell you that I make sure to make note of where he is at even if I am betting against.

Last winter it seemed like he had "days". If he won on his first mount, then he would win 4 or 5 races. If he didn't win on the first mount, then he might not win all day or maybe just once. Since Belmont opened that doesn't seemed to be true as much. JMO

Did you know that getting 6/5 on that horse was like stealing,i bet you had no idea.

I don't often tout a rider because the majority of them are competent at best, but Dominguez makes horses better. Have not seen that since Laffit did it regularly and astounded me....He is nearing that same lofty position.
